Kopitiam Breakfast Croissant at Thong Kee Cafe Sea Park

Thong Kee Cafe in Sea Park, Petaling Jaya, is a Hainanese kopitiam originating from Bentong, Pahang.

This coffee shop serves excellent toast, croissants, and doughnuts alongside Hainan coffee and tea.

The drinks are the best and complement the offerings from the other stalls for breakfast and lunch.

My first experience was at the original Thong Kee Kopitiam in Bentong, Pahang.

By the time I reached the Kopitiam, the last Kaya Butter Croissant was sold out.

It is that popular; I kid you not.

I was visiting Petaling Jaya, and Wendy suggested a breakfast stop for Kaya Butter Croissant; I was game.

Little did I know I was so lucky to try another Thong Kee outlet in Sea Park, Petaling Jaya.

Thong Kee Kopitiam opened its first outlet in Bentong, followed by other outlets.

  • Glenmarie
  • Pandan Indah
  • Kepong

Thong Kee Cafe’s Specialty

Thong Kee’s specialty is its different home-baked pillowy-soft Hainanese Bread and Croissants.

Thong Kee’s homemade Croissants are what make them truly unique.

These Croissants are surprisingly plentiful, buttery, flaky, and super soft on the inside.

What to order?

The must-order food are

What’s the coffee like?

Thong Kee has the best Hainanese coffee, which is strong, super thick, and aromatic.

I prefer their “Cham,” which combines coffee and tea with milk.

This is an excellent and unbeatable value for money at RM2.20 for a small cup.

The Original Thong Kee Kopitiam

I was at the original Thong Kee Kopitiam in Bentong, Pahang.

The local boys always order iced coffee “tapau” as it is larger than the cup version.

Hainan Bread

The bread is served as Roti Bakar or Steam.

There is white bread or wholemeal bread to choose from.

A filling of Butter and kaya makes for the best version, with a rich, buttery taste and a mild, sweet green pandan kaya.

Those who enjoy the taste of vegans can opt for margarine instead of butter.

Cheese
A filling of sliced cheddar cheese.

Ham
A filling of local ham.

Egg
A filling of folded Omelette.

What’s the verdict of the Kopitiam Breakfast Croissant at Thong Kee Cafe Sea Park?

Thong Kee’s reviews from locals and friends are simply delicious.

They might not go into describing the texture and taste apart from saying,

” The toasts and croissants are really good.”

For me, the croissants were exceptional – Crispy on the outside and soft and buttery inside.

You get that satisfying crunch when you munch into it.

Toasts and croissants are delicious.

My personal favorite is the simple Cheese, Ham, and Egg Croissant (RM7.90).

This hearty breakfast pairs perfectly with the thick, aromatic, and creamy Thong Kee’s famous “Cham” (RM2.20).

The coffee/tea concoction is perfect without being overly cloying.

If you want a lighter breakfast, you can order the famous Kaya + Butter Croissant (RM5.90)

The basic version of Hainan Roti Bakar with Butter + Kaya (RM1.90), which I tried in Bentong, is decent.

Now that I have the lux version, I would opt for the Cheese + Ham + Egg Croissant anytime.

The best time to go for breakfast at Thong Kee

Thong Kee Cafe at Sea Park is always packed during breakfast and lunch hours.

To beat the breakfast crowds, it’s best to get there before 9.00 am.

If you’re like me and want to eat quickly without waiting for my food, you need to set your alarm early.

Thong Kee is a place where I wouldn’t mind waking up early for breakfast.

Although the restaurant was crowded, the service was fast and efficient.

We got our food as they rolled out after 10 minutes.

Where to park?

Getting a car park near the Kopitiam is difficult at best.

You must be prepared to share tables or wait for one if you are late.

Which Thong Kee outlet to go for?

My vote is the original Thong Kee Kopitiam in Bentong.

Yes, I like the ambiance of the coffee shop.

There are currently five outlets under the Thong Kee brand.

Thong Kee Cafe Sea Park, which I tried, is the most popular.

As for me, I will make another trip to Sea Park to try the doughnuts, half-boiled eggs, and the breakfast sets.

I’ll try the other noodle stalls if I can still eat after that.
