Good Corner Kopitiam is a popular kopitiam in the Island Park. This is one of the earliest suburbs of George Town built around the Holy Spirit Cathedral. The Catholic Church was developed with the Guan Joo Seng Estate (now known as Taman Besi) in the 1960s.

Good Food in the Suburb Kopitiam

Good Corner Kopitiam has a good location at a corner lot of a row of shophouses near the “Japanese Garden” park. This is the Dewan Komuniti JKKK Island Park.

Most of the patrons live in the vicinity and drop by for their daily mixed rice meals here. The economy rice stall run by Jeffrey Tay is popular with the locals who live around the vicinity.

No Frills Good Food @ Good Corner Kopitiam

According to Jeffrey, there are about 40 dishes on the economic rice menu cooked every Monday. On other days, there are slightly lesser.

His economy rice stall is a no-frills type. The cooked dishes are laid out on a stainless steel stall front and two foldaway tables. The stainless steel trays of food are arranged like a mosaic. The food is nice, tasty, and not oily. There is no MSG and it is not too salty.

Great for Buying Lunch Home with Tiffin Carriers

Most customers will come ready with their tiffin carriers to “ta pau”. There are several pork dishes, fish, curries, chicken, vegetables, tofu, and egg dishes.

The “Ikan Keli” catfish head curry is at the bottom left!

Go Early for the Best Selections

When I arrived, there was only two signature catfish fish head curry (Ikan Keli) left. Jeffery displays catfish heads upside down. It took more than a few minutes before I realized what these were.

For my lunch, I had a piece of pork, some chicken, and stir-fried bitter gourd.

Business is brisk and they sell most dishes out by mid-day for this economy rice business. This is a good location for a no-frill economy rice outlet with decent dishes you can buy home in a tiffin carrier.
