Nakhon Si Thammarat Province is the second-largest province in southern Thailand.

Most Malaysians travel north to Hat Yai and ultimately miss out on Nakhon Si Thammarat.

If you’re tired of the city and want to see a completely different side of Thailand, here are some of the best places to check out.

Nothing beats going local and finding that little gem off the beaten track.

We headed to Hao Coffee in the city of Nakhon Si Thammarat.

There is an eclectic mix of authentic vintage and antiques.

Who owns the antiques at Hao Coffee?

The collection belongs to local antique collector Sutham Chayankiart.

Who is Sutham Chayankiart?

Sutham Chayankiart, or Ko-Ad, is a well-respected businessman in Nakhon Si Thammarat who owns a restaurant and bakery in the city.

When was Sutham Chayankiart inspired to collect antiques?

A visit spurred Sutham to collect antiques at the Captain Cook Museum in Australia on one of his different stints.

When he returned to Thailand, he greatly desired to collect all the antiques.

His collection is on permanent display to share with his customers.

Many pieces are displayed in his restaurant, Khrua Nakhorn, and Hao Coffee Antiques.

Can you see them?

Sutham has antique tables and chairs, clocks, and even rifles mounted on the wall.

Are those natural Riffles on the wall?

We spotted two rifles over a hundred years old mounted on the wall above the coffee dispenser area.

And yes, they are real!

Yes, those are real vintage rifles on the wall!

What does Hao Coffee look like?

The mismatched wooden tables, chairs, and vintage objects look like a movie set!

Sutham even recycled a few vintage sewing machine stands with glass tops into pretty tables.

Which is his collection?

He has over forty different types of antique clock models on display, all in perfect working condition.

It cannot be quiet when all the clocks chime simultaneously.

However, each clock has its district and beautiful musical chimes, which strike up every hour on the hour!

Our tea time treat was perfectly timed.

We had our drinks and snacks served and waited in anticipation.

At 4 pm, all the antique clocks chimed noisily. It’It’It’siteience.

What is the taste of the Hao Coffee local brew?

We loved the excellent local, High-quality roasted coffee and tea. Both drinks taste lovely.

What kind of desserts does the Hao Coffee bakery bake?

We tried the Matcha Caramel Cupcakes, which are delicious.

What is the service like at Hao Coffee?

The staff is Thai, so they cannot converse in English. As this is a local outlet, few tourists are here; most customers are residents.

Our Thai friend helped us order, and the service was excellent.

Travel tip: As this is a local place, the staff may be unable to converse in English.

A little hideaway

Hao Coffee is the perfect spot to chill. I would recommend this for a coffee date with friends.
