When I recently reviewed a local Express-type hotel, I remembered Just Sleep Ximending, Taipei.
I stayed in this hipster hotel in Taiwan for five nights some years back.
“Just Sleep” is an affordable Hotel Chain with 5-star services and amenities to provide guests with a bright, comfortable experience.
The hotel’s location—just a 2-minute walk from the Ximending MRT Station—and modern functionality are a perfect combination.
Best of all, it’s right above a 7-Eleven.

Just Sleep Ximending Hotel
This budget hotel feels like a top-notch hotel with friendly service. However, there is no porter service.
What type of room should I book?
Room options at Just Sleep Ximending include

The hotel’s interior is modern, with a clean, edgy design.
The rooms are spotless, neat, and well-furnished for a budget hotel. They provide all the necessary amenities.
Just for well, Sleeping.
The Superior Twin we checked into was tiny at approximately 26 m² for two single beds.
It was a long, narrow room with a well-thought-out design.

Bathroom
As you enter, the bathroom is on the left. It has separate cubicles, glass doors for a shower and WC, and obscured glass for privacy.
The area outside these two compartments serves as part of the bedroom.
The only part is getting out of a hot shower into the cold room to change or scamper out to the next compartment to use the WC.
There is no basin but the sink, which doubles as a kitchenette.
You could make a nice cuppa or instant ramen at Taiwan’s 7-Eleven convenience stores.
One area for improvement is the dim vanity area, which can be better lit up to apply makeup.

Great Functionality
All room arrangements and space allocation are marvelous.
The best part is all sockets are UNIVERSAL adapters.
Who says you must hide the little safe?
There is no deterrent if someone breaks into the room, whether the safe is in a cupboard or just sitting on a ledge.
We like the tiny baby blue fridge, which is home to snacks, milk, and drinks for a few days.
They keep the hairdryer in a little bag on the countertop with the company’s tissue dispenser with no drawers.
There is a loveseat to snuggle in.
We found that we could fit in if we sat straight up with shoulders touching. That has lasted for a good 3 minutes.
We laughed our heads off. Later, we sat on our bed to chat.
Finally, we get to just sleep.
The beds are touted as Pressure-relieving, body-contouring Wellspring Beds.
We slept well when our heads touched the pillows after the day of touring and non-stop walking.
This is the best way to fall asleep quickly at night for someone with insomnia.

What kind of breakfast is served at Just Sleep Ximending?
Buffet Breakfast Included. We enjoyed having our breakfast here.
This is a tourist-class hotel, so you must get up early to enjoy a leisurely breakfast.
The peak hours are 7.30 am before the busses leave for the day tours.
They serve excellent buffet breakfasts with a variety and quality, and you will probably pay NT$1000 if you eat outside a restaurant.
Plus, you get to taste Taiwanese milk tea here.
Buffet breakfast is offered at Just Sleep Hotel Ximending from 6:30 AM to 10:30 AM.

24-hour Laundry Room
The laundry is free.
There are four washing machines and four dryers.
You can purchase powder detergent and laundry bags at the reception.
It is a nominal fee of NT$10, and they will ask you to put that into a donation box for the less privileged.
I think this is an excellent initiative.
Otherwise, if you do your laundry at night, you can always buy some detergent from the 7-Eleven downstairs.
You must queue to use the machines during peak hours (8 pm–12 midnight) as everyone is back from sightseeing.
Ice Machine
There is an ice machine for all the drinks you buy from 7-Eleven to try.
Staff Excellent Customer Service
The hotel staff is friendly and helpful, and the young Taiwanese speak English.
The heart-warming service from the staff is friendly and genuine. They are courteous and helpful with any inquiries.
Taiwanese 7-Eleven Convenience Store
There is a 7-Eleven downstairs on the ground level.
My travel companion and I spent many happy hours each night browsing the outlet.
The 7-Eleven has all the interesting-looking milk, fruit juices, candy, chocolates, buns, sandwiches, and ramen we wanted to eat.
Best of all, the 7-Eleven stays open 24 hours, even in a storm.
Distance to Ximen MRT Line
You only need to cross the hotel’s road and walk about 250m to the Ximen MRT Line.
It is a 5 to 8-minute walk along the pedestrian walkway to Ximending MRT Exit 4, which is quite a walk at night in the cold.
One night, we came home late and used Exit 4, which was located across the street.
We were too tired to climb the 40 steps to the top of the staircase, which had no escalator.
This will be challenging if you go out with small children, a stroller, or a senior.
Exit 6 has an elevator and an escalator, which takes you to the Ximending market entrance.
We didn’t want to take this late at night as the area was quiet.
Taking the bus
There is a bus stop near Ximeding, which is a 2-minute walk away.
For a day trip, you can take Bus 965 to Jiu Fen Old Street.
Which popular attractions are close to Just Sleep Ximending?
Just Sleep Ximending is an excellent choice for travelers visiting Zhongzheng District.
There are some trendy shops, plenty of 7-Eleven, Family Mart, and OPEN！STORE 欣漢華門市 for you to browse.
You can experience some of Zhongzheng District’s most well-known attractions. Nearby famous landmarks include.

Ideal location near the Ximending market but far enough from the maddening crowds.
Overall, the hotel stay was comfortable, and I recommend this for groups, families, and even solo travelers. For groups, you can book a combination of rooms to stay.
The hotel has an excellent, modern, funky design and is clean and functional.
Everything you need for a convenient stay with a self-service 24-hour laundrette.
Convenient location with MRT just across the street, a 7-Eleven downstairs, and within walking distance to the Ximending shopping area.
Befits the name Just Sleep.
When I was there, they were full, but the hotel quickly managed the breakfast crowd and replenished the food.
Worth a return visit.
