GHITM 2019 Genting Highlands International Travel Mart

The inaugural Genting Highlands International Travel Mart 2019 (GHITM 2019), an integrated Business-to-Business ( “B2B”) tourism and travel trade convention were launched recently at Grand Ion Delemen Hotel, Genting Highlands.

GHITM 2019 is the first-ever tourism and travel trade convention focusing on a specially curated B2B matching system to facilitate networking and create value propositions for Buyers and Sellers.

The event gathers top hotels, resorts, travel services, agencies, tourist attractions, theme parks, and tech providers all in one location.

NCT Group of Companies (“NCT Group”), a Malaysian-owned premium property developer, collaborates with EZ5 Entertainment Sdn. Bhd.

The Federation of Malaysia Chinese Guilds Association (FEMACGA) and Grand Ion Delemen Hotel launched the inaugural Genting Highlands International Travel Mart 2019 (GHITM 2019).

The event is graced by Yang Amat Mulia Tengku Arif Temenggong Pahang Tengku Fahd Mua’dzam Shah Ibni Sultan Haji Ahmad Shah Al-Musta’in Billah.

The launch of GHITM 2019 was officiated by Director-General of Tourism Malaysia Yang Berbahagia Datuk Musa Yusof and witnessed by Melaka State EXCO for Tourism, Heritage and Culture Yang Berhormat Datuk Muhamad Jailani bin Khamis, Chairman of Organising Committee cum Founder and Group Managing Director of NCT Group Yang Berbahagia Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy.

Chairman of Organising Committee cum Founder and Group Managing Director of NCT Group, Dato’ Sri Yap Ngan Choy, welcomed all local and international tourism players and stakeholders.

He urged all to exchange ideas, knowledge, and information to create a seamless travel experience for all tourists in line with Visit Malaysia Truly Asia 2020.

To address the industry’s rapidly changing dynamics, the event will cover key topics such as the significance of the MICE market, medical tourism outlook, the evolution of travel agents, innovative travel packages, and trends in wedding and golf tourism.

“The goal behind this convention goes way beyond connecting stakeholders and players in the tourism and travel industry with each other.

It also serves as an educational platform where industry professionals exchange innovative ideas to boost the sector’s performance.

On top of that, GHITM 2019 also supports the Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture’s initiative to improve Malaysia’s world ranking into the Top 10 by 2019 and the recently launched Visit Malaysia 2020,” said Dato’ Sri Yap.

The event also boasts participation from government tourism departments and bureaus and convention and exhibition bureaus from a host of countries.

Malaysia, China, Thailand, Indonesia, Myanmar, The Philippines, Singapore, India, Cambodia, and Vietnam were represented.

Dignitaries and guests enjoyed the delicious gala dinner in the magnificent pillar-less Grand Delemen Ballroom at the Grand Ion Delemen Hotel.

GHITM 2019 aims to provide an effective B2B platform for all international tourism industry players to share and transfer knowledge and information on eight Key Tourism Industry Segments –

Key Tourism Industry Segments include Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality, among others.

The event also allows participants to form business relationships and explore new business opportunities to promote Malaysia as a tourist destination worldwide.

International delegates comprise 23% of the exhibitors, with Malaysian delegates making up the remaining balance.

According to statistics from Tourism Malaysia, RM84.1 billion in tourism receipts boosted the country’s economy.

The expenditure of 25.8 million tourists who visited Malaysia throughout 2018 with the lion’s share of tourist arrivals were

  • Singapore (10.6 million)
  • Indonesia (3.3 million)
  • China (2.9 million)
