If you have been to Taiwan, you can’t pass by the Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks outlet without buying your favorite.
The Taiwanese food chain features popular snacks from the alleys of Taiwan’s night markets, particularly Shilin Night Market, Taipei.
With the whole store accentuated by its signature marron red, a Shihlin outlet is a sight not to be missed.
I have tasted the food from various outlets in Penang and KL, and the taste is relatively consistent – it doesn’t disappoint.

With Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks abroad, we can now do the same and enjoy the fantastic street snacks of Taiwan!
I have visited Taiwan a couple of times before and am always intrigued by the variety of snacks available.
I’m notI’mazy about Taiwanese snacks per se, but I’m verI’mmpartial to Fried Chicken and Fries.
Shihlin Taiwan Street Snacks is everyone’s favorite for an excellent reason.
The XXL Crispy Chicken has a batter that makes for a crispy and crunchy bite, with the chicken inside warm and juicy.
Best of all, if you like it spicy, you can always customize your Spicy Fried Chicken and ask for extra hot seasoning on your XXL Crispy Chicken.
Frankly, I love fried chicken, and this snack is quite addictive.

The menu is prepared the way they do over in Taiwan.
It features authentic favorites such as XXL Crispy Chicken, Sweet Potato Fries, Crispy Floss Egg Crepe, Handmade Oyster Mee Sua, and Seafood Tempura.

The Shihlin in the Lower Ground level has good service.
I was walking by with my mom, and our neighbor and mom wanted to look at the XXL Crispy Chicken.
The cashier was a nice and friendly chap, and we bought an XXL Crispy Chicken and the Sweet Potato Fries with a dusting of plum powder.
XXL Crispy Chicken
The Taiwanese XXL Fried Chicken is a huge, crispy, generously seasoned XXL Chicken cutlet from Taipei’s night markets.
The Taiwanese Fried Chicken is a popular street snack in Taiwan and is so good.
The recipe uses one whole marinated chicken breast, butterflied, and flattened.
The double-dipping wet and dry batter makes them yummy with a perfect crunch!
These crispy treats fly off the plate when served Hot!
You can request to alter the seasonings to your liking for extra rich flavors.
Add more chili powder if you want it spicier, or enjoy it with more pepper.
Perfect as a sharing snack or a cheat day treat.
Sweet Potato Fries
I enjoy eating plain fried sweet potatoes from the Goreng Pisang stalls.
The Sweet Plum Potato Fries are hand-cut, fried to a golden brown, and sprinkled with sour plum powder.
And let me assure you this – you will enjoy the sweetness of the potatoes even more with the crunchy batter and zesty plum powder.
The fries make an ideal hot snack, but you’ve got to eat them immediately; otherwise, it loses their crunch.
Fortunately for us, it was still crunchy when we reached home within the hour!
We ate a few in the car and loved the softness of the sweet potato inside the crunchy batter.
