Coffee Elements Feast On More Than Just Coffee

Coffee Elements has more than just Coffee – it’s one of those cafes that go under the radar if you miss it.

I used to drop by after dinner for Coffee.

I remember the boss telling me to come over and try our breakfast, lunch, and dinner.

“You won’t be disappointed.”

And rightly so, Irene and I went for a late lunch recently.

My only regret is, why didn’t I try the menu earlier?

Where Is Coffee Element?

Coffee Element is at All Seasons Place at Farlim, Ayer Itam.

Most visitors would hang out at the busy shops and eateries on the Ground Floor.

Coffee Element is hidden away on the first floor.

Probably due to its slightly hidden location away from foot traffic, few visitors ventured upstairs.

The cafe is easily located above Starbucks, and a lift can take you upstairs.

While other coffee contenders just opened, Coffee Element remains popular with regulars who love the simple setup and great food.

Coffee Elements is an ideal spot not only for breakfast and brunch, but its café style offering is great for lunch, tea, and dinner.

There is always a special bake of the day (cakes).

Only Irene’s Brownies RM12.50 and Tiramisu RM19.00 were available when we went.

The Tiramisu was just put in the chiller and just not ready.

Irene pulled a face.

Irene: Why do they display it if we can’t order?

Dory: That’s the chiller.

Irene: Well, it’s torture to see, but I can’t eat!

Coffee Element Pricing

One of the things we appreciate about Coffee Element is its affordable food prices.

Cafes in Penang are instead an expensive luxury if you don’t know where to find outlets with pocket-friendly prices.

Coffee Element is a noteworthy eatery that offers reasonable prices, great taste, attractive plating, and friendly service.

The food and drinks are all reasonably priced with no service charge or government tax.

Breakfast & Brunch Platter

Most places that serve a Big Breakfast have pork bacon on their menu.

Since I’ve stopped eating pork, people have asked if I’ve changed religion.

Dory: Very amusing take, people.

Do you ask if someone says they stopped eating? Say pineapple, for instance.

Back to the no-pork and bacon menu, I like Coffee Elements’ pork-free menu, their take on the most important meal of the day, and their breakfast menu idea.

I love that they have a customized breakfast menu that starts with a pocket-friendly Toast Starter.

Coffee Elements Breakfast & Brunch Platter

Egg on Toast Starter RM8

American Cheesy Scrambled Eggs on Toast. Just this alone is enough if you’re a small eater.

Of course, I had to customize and add on almost all the menu items.

Add On Options RM1 to RM4.50

  • Baked Beans RM1.50 √
  • Grilled Tomato RM1.0
  • Homemade Chicken Sausage Meat RM3.5 √
  • Homemade Beef Sausage Meat RM4.5 √
  • Chicken Ham RM1.50 √
  • Beef Bacon RM2.50 √
  • Smoked Salmon RM4.50
  • Balsamic Shitake Mushroom RM3.50
  • Potato Salad RM2.50 √
  • Additional Slice of Wholemeal bread RM1.50
  • Extra Egg for Scrambled Eggs RM1.50

If you go nine yards, you will have a bill of RM36.

I decided to go for a smaller portion (where got er? I’ll try my best to finish it, Dory?)

I spied other diners; they shared their Breakfast & Brunch Platters, and I was greedy enough.

The toasts are crispy and buttered – Nice.

American Cheesy Scrambled Eggs – I like soft folds like curds, adorable!

Potato Salad – I’m a potato head, and I like the version here with raw onions and celery.

Homemade Beef Sausage Meat – Okay, it tastes like a mini hamburger.

Homemade Chicken Sausage Meat—Nope, it’s just too overcooked and hard. I took a bite and left 2/3 uneaten.

Pumpkin Soup RM7.50

Served with free-flow bread.

Soup with excellent pumpkin-tasting sweetness.

Smoked Salmon Salad RM15.00

Smoked Salmon, salad with sesame sauce dressing. It was tasty, with lots of toasted sesame seeds scattered on top.

If you’ve been to the traditional Western food stalls in Penang’s kopitiams, you will know that plates cost between RM8 and RM15, compared to RM4 for a bowl of noodles.

Coffee Elements has excellent value-for-money mains just a dollar or two higher than Kopitaim Western food.

While most mains in George Town cafes start at RM20+, the prices at Coffee Elements are very affordable.

Green Beast Platter RM17.50

Grilled Chicken Breast served with creamy pesto sauce, thick-cut fries with mixed greens.

Coffee Element Desserts

Luckily, we went on the day that all the cakes were sold out sans some chocolate brownies.

Irene’s Brownies RM12.50

With crispy edges and a rich chocolate flavor, these homemade brownies and Vanilla Ice Cream scoops disappeared.

Irene’s Brownies did not disappoint.

We ordered one to try, then decided to put in another order because we were greedy.

While some recipes call for salt to balance the sweetness of cake batters, a salty flavor should not be discernible.

But since Irene and I are Chocoholic in for an indulgence, we enjoyed the hint of salty taste, which reminds me of salted caramel.

Coffee & Latte

Both coffees are smooth tasting and not acidic, and we got a good night’s rest.

The milk is nice and creamy.

Best of all, the café has complimentary water for the customers, and you need not order any drinks if you don’t want to order.

Coffee Element Review

The café has well-spaced tables and an outside area if you prefer fresh air.

Overall, the café is breezy.

Yes, there is table service. Friendly staff and owners are on hand to help you with the menu.

There is a cute magazine-format menu, which I love.

Since my brunch with Irene, I’ve gone back for their breakfast and Coffee.

Coffee Element gets our top vote for good, decent, tasty food, friendly service, affordability, and no service charge or Government Tax.
