Capsule Transit KLIA2 – Best Transit Sleeping Options

Sleeping in KLIA2 and gateway@klia2 is prohibited in most areas. You will be shooed by the security guards who patrol the area the whole night.

What are your sleeping options at KLIA2?

However, depending on the length of your layover and your preference, there are some spots where you could sleep.

So, if you are on an extended layover, be sure to book accommodation in advance.

Sleeping Options.

There are many sleeping options available at the KLIA2 airport sleeping area.

Now that you know this, you can put away your worries.

  1. Missing the connecting flight
  2. Early morning flight
  3. Endless hours to kill in transit.

You can choose to sleep in hotels located inside the departure areas of KLIA2 or just outside the departure hall.

Alternatively, there are hotels nearby, about 15 km from the airport.

Some of these have shuttle services available.

You will need to check if the shuttle is free and available when you want to leave for the airport.

I prefer to be as close as possible to the gate.

I have stayed 30 minutes from the airport before.

But traffic jams can make you rush to check in your luggage and board your flight.

KLIA2 is a large airport.

Your experience depends on where your gate is and how far it is from you.

Here are some tips for sleeping comfortably in the airport during flight delays, layovers, and overnight stays.

KLIA and KLIA2 are two separate terminals at the same airport.

You can travel between KLIA and KLIA2 using the KLIA Ekspres train, which leaves from Level 2 of the Gateway@KLIA2 mall.

The train journey takes approx—3 minutes between the two terminals.

My stay was quiet and peaceful.

I was surprised by the restful sleep I enjoyed.

Convenient Location.

Capsule Transit KLIA2 (Airport Transit Hotel) is Malaysia’s first minimalist capsule-style airport transit hotel.

This non-smoking hotel is conveniently located on the lower ground level of KLIA2, where AirAsia and other low-cost carriers operate.

If you arrive late at night, you can easily access it without going through the Gateway@KLIA2 mall.

The hotel is designed for frequent flyers, transit passengers, early travelers, and backpackers.

It provides a comfortable place to rest or recharge before your next flight.

Various packages are available, allowing stays of 6, 9, or 12 hours.

Perfect for Transit.

The hotel offers the unique experience of staying inside a container capsule.

This is a good option for a single person in need of comfortable accommodation.

I was fatigued from my previous flights and was sleeping poorly on a hard bed at another Airbnb.

Sleeping in the Capsule Transit never sounded so good. You enjoy a few hours of shut-eye on a really comfy bed. The bed, pillows, and quilt are incredibly soft and pillowy.

Capsule Transit KLIA2 Review

The Capsule Hotel is an excellent place to rest before your next flight.

It’s quiet, and I had a perfect night’s sleep.

I arrived at Gateway@KLIA2 at 10:30 PM and had a 6:00 AM flight, so I booked a 6-hour stay.

The check-in process was smooth and straightforward.

The staff explained the rules and took a refundable RM50 deposit.

I received a room key on a tag to wear around my neck, along with a bag containing a bath towel and bottled water.

The hotel is clean and efficient. Men and women have separate areas for privacy, each with a clean, functional shared bathroom. There’s also a small social room, but most guests prefer to sleep.

I enjoyed a good rest, charged my gadgets, and listened to the pods. The internet speed was lightning-fast, perfect for streaming movies before drifting off.

I can sleep well and wake up fresh for next flight.

If you’re coming back in a few days, it is good to book ahead as the hotel is often fully booked when there are many early morning flights.

Travel Tips:

  1. Manage your check-in/check-out time so you spend less money and still get a good sleep. When you reach gateway@klia2, say at 10 PM, and your next flight is 8 AM, you can check in at midnight and take the 6-hour package, which gives you enough time for good sleep, a fresh morning, and a bath.
  1. If you are a light sleeper and less affected by people going up and down or walking around, you can opt for the room at the top.
  1. Remember to return your towel and bag and take your deposit back when you check out.
