Tea Time Treats at The Coffee House -The Northam Penang

The Coffee House -The Northam All Suite Penang is an excellent venue for tea time business meetings.

If you want a venue that is quiet, with quick service in George Town, this is the place to head to.

The Coffee House is the main restaurant of The Northam All-Suite Hotel located next to the hotel lobby.

This is the breakfast venue for in-house guests.

After lunch, the Coffee House is quiet and conducive for a quick coffee or snack.

Most business people prefer to have meetings and discussions in a hotel’s coffee house rather than a café.

From my personal experiences, although a café serves meals, some cafes have a central kitchen and just heat prepackaged food.

Coffee Shops with specialty coffees usually sell just coffee, tea, bottled drinks and cakes, muffins, scones, and cookies.

These places are hip and happening and highly visible but have a casual atmosphere.

If you have been to the fast food outlets, you will see salespeople promoting MLM products staked out at convenient spots where the power outlets are located.

For a professional business meeting after lunch, I prefer a hotel’s coffee house or lounge.

The appeal of a dining experience in a hotel’s coffee house is the service.

What to order for drinks at the Coffee House?

The coffees and tea are decent rather than fancy mancy.

I get a nice hot Americano served with milk on the side without much fuss or repeating my orders to the Barista.

Why I hate ordering coffee at Coffee Joints

The reasons are simple.

  • Too many sizes
  • Multiple selections
  • Paper Cups
  • Self-service
  • Misspelling your on the paper cup
  • No Mugs for boiling coffee

The Coffee House serves hot beverages in a proper cup and saucer, unlike Coffee Chains.

What about snacks?

I like an authentic real Fried Chicken.

Chicken Nuggets are not chicken. It is a chicken product made from the chicken meat that you see in the supermarket, that is, broiler meat. It contains other boneless chicken meat that includes skin and fat for flavor and texture.

My recommendations for Tea Time Treats at The Northam All Suite

Inche Kabin RM20

Deep-Fried Chicken Wings with spices served with dipping sauce.

The Coffee House makes a spicy, addictive piping hot Inche Kabin that is delicious.

Hainanese Spring Roll RM15

The best Hainanese Spring Rolls typically contain minced meat, shredded carrot, bean sprouts, and served with a Worcestershire sauce dip.

As the hotel is halal, the Crispy Hainanese Style Spring Roll is made with julienned bangkuang (Jicama or yam bean).

The skin is crispy, and the Bangkuang is juicy.

The only thing lacking is the Worcestershire sauce dip, but the chili sauce dip is decent.
