One of the things I enjoy most in Thailand is eating by the riverside. The Halal Seafood Lunch at Ko Klang Floating Restaurant is a firm favorite with the locals.

Ko Klang is in tambon Klong Prasong, Mueang Krabi District, Krabi Province, Thailand.

Many restaurants are built over the jetty by the river for visitors to walk in after climbing off a boat.

Some of these restaurants have dual frontages.

The Riverside and an off the road for a stroll up the boardwalk.

Either way, the restaurants overlook the river for a fantastic view.

The Freshest Catch

The freshest catch just caught before your eyes and taken to the pot is not the sight for veggie lovers.

Creative and innovative, Thai-style cooking is delicious and appetizing!

The Thais use a combination of fragrant herbs, hot and cooling spices in their cooking.

Soulful and distinct, the preparation style range from quaint to great!

All prepared in the style of home-cooked chefs.

The peaceful little Muslim rural community on Koh Klang island is a mere 5-minute boat ride from Krabi town.

We took a long tail boat on a picturesque journey through Koh Klang’s maze of mangroves. Most of the inhabitants on the little island are Muslims.

Care to walk the plank?

The fish cages are in the water below.
Traditional wooden houses built on stilts dot the river bank. There are bamboo shacks and small dirt road on a little island where rules for bicycles and life is simple and quiet.

We clambered onto the floating fish farm restaurant. The fishermen take live fishes out of fish traps to the cooking pot for our lunch.

We waited in the dining area of the restaurant which floats above the river!

The Freshest Taste Possible

The delicious taste of fresh seafood is hard to replicate in the city especially the Tom Yum Goong.

Tom Yum is a type of hot and sour Thai soup, usually cooked with prawns.

I loved the fried fish warm salad. The crispy on the outside and moist and juicy fish was additive.

The smell of cuttlefish grilling over hot coals was so appetizing!

We had a fish soup cooked with pineapple, just like Malaysian style Assam Pedas.

How interesting!

Finally, the pièce de résistance, the fresh-caught trashing fish just lifted off with a net at Ko Klang Floating Restaurant Krabi.

Cooked and served.

That was the best dish I had; the Thai-style steamed fish with chili, coriander, and piquant lime!
