Aunty Q Signature Siuyuk Nasi Lemak

Aunty Q Signature Siuyuk is one of the main reasons people keep talking about this restaurant.

When I first heard about their famous roasted pork, I knew I had to try it.

My very first dish was the roast pork rice, and honestly, it was a five-star experience.

In fact, it tasted better than many roast meat stalls I’ve tried around Penang.

Since that first visit, I’ve been to a few Aunty Q outlets, but the one that consistently stands out for me is the Summerton branch.

Irene says I enjoy the food here more because I get to eat it with her. LOL (yes, that’s true)

We used to share meals often, ordering the same dishes so we could taste everything together.

Of course my dear friend is right.

So when Irene suggested we try the Signature Siuyuk Nasi Lemak, I was genuinely excited.

The dish came with nicely chopped, thick slices of roasted pork that were moist and never dry.

The balance was spot on.

Just enough fat and a beautifully crispy, crunchy crackling.

From the first bite, I was completely hooked.

That’s the magic of pork belly, with its perfect layers of skin, fat, and meat.

If you’re looking at the nasi lemak menu, there are plenty of choices, even if you don’t eat pork.

I’ve tried the Petai vs Crispy Fried Chicken version myself, and it’s very good.

  • Traditional Nasi Lemak – RM 7.90
  • Crispy Fried Chicken Nasi Lemak Curry – RM 14.90
  • Chicken Nasi Lemak – RM 15.90
  • Sambal Petai Nasi Lemak – RM 12.90
  • Signature Siuyuk Nasi Lemak – RM 18.90

Out of all of them, the Signature Siuyuk Nasi Lemak is still the clear winner for me.

A good nasi lemak always starts with the rice. It must be steaming hot and cukup lemak.

I realised how important this was when I tried a well-known nasi lemak brand from KL the next day.

The basmati rice was cold and completely missed the mark.

Here, at Aunty Q, the nasi lemak with roast pork gets everything right.

The crunchy pork belly is the star!

But the pork lard crackling bits mixed with anchovies and peanuts are what really elevate the dish.

Every bite is full of texture and flavour.

The sambal is red, glossy, slightly spicy, slightly sweet, and perfectly balanced.

We were also served complimentary bowls of assam pedas soup.

Adding it to the nasi lemak made it even more delicious.

The tangy, spicy broth lifted the flavours and gave each mouthful more depth.

Tips for Dining at Aunty Q in Penang

The portions are generous, so we usually ask for half rice.

Just nice for us aunties who want to keep a trim silhouette!

Try to go around noon or after 1.30 pm, as the place fills up quickly.

Of all the Aunty Q outlets in Penang, Summerton remains the most memorable for me.

It was where I truly fell in love with nasi lemak with Signature Siuyuk.

If you’re visiting Penang for the first time, this version of the classic Malaysian dish is a must.

The roast pork nasi lemak feels comforting yet exciting, familiar yet new.

Even if you’ve eaten nasi lemak your whole life, this just makes your heart go mmmmmm…

It’s the kind of meal that makes me want to come back, eat lunch with Irene, and order the same dish without even thinking twice.
