There’s a Kopi Hutan, a forest coffee at the highest point in Penang Hill – right in the vicinity of a rainforest.
For forest lovers who enjoy a hot cuppa, you can soak in mother nature’s beauty while sipping your Kopi O.
Kopi Hutan is a perfect place to hang out and relax if you don’t like crowded air-cond places.
Here, you get Kopi Hutan’s forest environment, where the walls are the foliage and the sky is your ceiling.
For music, there are the sounds of the jungles.

Kopi Hutan Location
True to its name, Forest Coffee, Kopi Hutan is surrounded by a shady, cool rainforest that provides visitors with a comfortable dining experience.
The place is small, with some outdoor seating and a few undershades.
If it rains, you have a minimal area to take shelter!
Remember the café is located inside a forest!
The café is part of Monkey Cup Garden.
If you’re looking for a place to relax away from the hustle and bustle of the city, a trip to Penang Hill will be a bonus.
We tend to gravitate towards nature to relax.
Penangites’ hobbies include hiking up to Penang Hill.
The cafe’s decorations look natural, with rustic stone furniture.
At 833 m Above Sea Level, Kopi Hutan is the highest cafe in Penang.
Kopi Hutan Penang Hill Menu
You can order food and drinks here (but not from a hot kitchen)
The top order is Kopi Hutan’s Forest Coffee, made of roasted Coffee beans from 5 countries for an extraordinary aroma.
Other coffees on the menu are Arabica coffee and Saudi-Arabian coffee.
Tea and Soda Drinks
If you’re not a coffee drinker, there is an exciting selection of teas.
Try the teas to match your mood—Earl Gray Lavender tea, Lemon Ginger Mint tea, English Breakfast tea, or even Chinese Pu Er tea.
For children, their chocolate drinks are to be enjoyed hot or cold.
If you like nice carbonated or fizzy fruit drinks, try the refreshing Peach Mango, Blueberry Strawberry, Raspberry Pink Grapefruit, and Roselle Lemon.
You can order light meals from Kopi Hutan’s snacks, pretty sandwiches, and cakes to pair with your drink.
You can try their Chicken Salami and Egg sandwich for a quick bite.
Easy Snacks
There are sweet potato chips, bread sticks, or hard bread for those who like to snack.
Cakes
However, the cakes here steal the attention of many, and their Basque Burnt Cheesecake is quite famous.
Kopi Hutan’s burnt basque cheesecake originates in Basque Country (hence the name).
The crustless cheesecake is baked at a high temperature to get that beautiful burnt exterior.
Most people love the super creamy custard-like center – the same way you would love a creme brulee!
The bitterness of the burnt exterior, mixed with the sweetness and creaminess, makes it so good, and it creates a great contrast!
It’s kind of like salty caramel!
Another decadent cake is Tiramisu.
Chocolate Earl Gray cake has a combination of chocolate and Earl Gray tea.
Basil Lime cake, Chocolate Hazelnut, and Ondeh Deelight Cake are popular.
The latter is inspired by traditional Malaysian Kuih, the ondeh-ondeh.

Conclusion
A friend and I walked there for the first time, and it was a good exercise in the morning.
It was a long walk!
We waited for their free 4WD shuttle back to the Upper Station Hill area.
Since there was a queue of folks, we only got on the second trip.
We enjoyed the slow trip as we had time to kill and enjoyed the view around us.
My friend, a landscape architect, pointed out and named the plants and trees for me.
It was a great trip.
I had a pleasant time here and will repeat this trip.
The next time, I will take the buggy guided tour for an exceptional travel experience!
