Recently we tried the outlet at Gurney Plaza and found the café pleasant in the morning.

It starts serving breakfast early with breakfast sets with coffee, perfect for an early brunch.
The café serves coffee, tea, juice, ice-blended drinks, pastries, sandwiches, salads, and soups.
Coffee Bean is open from 8.00 AM to 10.00 PM.

Sometimes, when I get in the queue, I ask the customer in front of me what their orders are.
The Coffee Bean Breakfast Menu is varied and exciting.
Penangites are friendly and will chat a little when the topic is food.
I like to ask because if I am left alone, I will order the same item whenever I go to a particular café.
It’s called forced habit.
Once I find a Kopitiam, Café, or Restaurant that makes a particular dish the way I like it, that’s my standing order.
Getting an Omelette and Scrambled Eggs right is not that easy.
So, I have my go-to places for the cafes that make it suitable for me!
Coffee Bean Big Breakfast Menu
I’m a big fan of breakfast.
I love to eat it but hate to cook it.
Many options are available since it’s the perfect brunch for me and easy to make.
Eggs Ben
I’m a big fan of Eggs Benedict, which I started liking since Secawan introduced it to Penangites.
It’s one of the few dishes that can be made with any ingredients on hand (or in your fridge), but I’d rather eat out.
Even though the ingredients are simple, making a Hollandaise Sauce is not something I can get right.
It is an emulsion of egg yolks, melted butter, and lemon juice.
The thing is getting the technique right.
I can make mayonnaise by hand, whipping the yolks and oil slowly but surely, but these days, I would instead use store-bought than bother with that.
The Hollandaise Sauce for the Eggs Benedict was fair. I have had top-notch sauces before, so for a brekkie, it is good.
Would I order Eggs Ben at Cofee Bean again?
Verdict: Anything I don’t have to make from scratch is perfect!
Food For Thought
What were you thinking?
We often order this – it’s straightforward without much thinking involved until they forget the butter.
This breakfast dish contains half-boiled eggs with bread, fresh salads, and hot coffee.
Our thoughts are these: Perfect soft-boiled eggs (not Onsen) in a mug with too much bread.
Penelope laughs at my description but always wonders what she should do with the extra bread she couldn’t finish.
“I want to feed the birds,” she quipped.
“That’s called littering,” I said flatly.
Just order it with half the bread next time.
Penelope is like me; we would order the same food every time.
And we don’t really have much “Food for Thought,” come to think of it.
Coffee And Cakes For A Coffee Bean Breakfast?
Coffee Beans is one of my favorite places to waste time drinking coffee and eating cakes.
I have many places where the cakes know my name, not vice versa.
When I see a cake, I like it visually; I point and order.
Unless there’s a Victoria Sponge Cake – this cake, I will walk in and instantly be drawn towards it.
No, I’m not too fond of Strawberry Shortcake.
A good Victoria Sponge Cake is different – just the stuff that “old people” like (according to Penelope)

Since I’m looking for a needle in a haystack, we settled for Chocolate Whatevers in the Glass Case.
I had the Double Chocolate.
The cake is delicious.
All good.

I’m a morning person, and there are only so many cafés open early.
Coffee Bean is a great place to chill. You can enjoy their coffee all day; their beverages are super tasty.
You can choose to go with your loved ones or family.
Penelope just chose to eat with me.
You can find Coffee Beans all over Penang and around the world.
We will park at Paul’s in Singapore, Jakarta, and Manila if it’s with Veronique.
