Pork Noodle Soup is a staple I grew up eating.
I remember a story that a dear friend shared.
Anyone can celebrate your birthday and buy you a cake.
Only your mother will make you a steaming bowl of pork noodle soup with mee suah for your birthday to welcome you.
The unfussy and flexible pork soup contains as many or as few ingredients as you have in your kitchen.
Back then, homemakers would go to the wet market every morning. The pork was a staple, fresh ingredient.
Bee Hing Coffee Shop (美興餐飲中心)
This Kopitiam is located at the junction of 1 Jalan Padang Tembak (at Air Itam Road).
Murphy and I went to check it out on a cold Sunday morning.
We parked near the Pasar Kampung Baharu and walked across the road.
I think the last time I was in the market was almost 30 years ago.
The pace is slower in Ayer Itam, away from the hustle and bustle of George Town.
The Bee Hing Coffee Shop is quiet, and no one asked us to order drinks.
Only the Pork Noodle Soup stall was opened.
Pork Noodle Soup – Pig Innards
For Pork eaters, you will enjoy a meal with all the Pig Innard you can eat.
- Liver
- Kidney
- Brains
- Offal
- Pig Fallopian Tubes
- Minced Pork
- Pork Balls
Pork Noodle Soup Types
Their signature dish is Yam Rice with the Pork Parts or Pork Innards Soup.
You can choose either
- Cabbage
- Bitter Gourd
- Salted Vegetables (Kiam Chai or Pickled Mustard Greens)
- Seaweed
I got the recommendation to combine Bitter Gourd and ‘Kiam Chye.’
My only concern was the soup was a little cooling, and sometimes I got joint pain like ‘Kiam Chye,’ which creates wind ‘hong’ in our body.
However, sometimes, for the tasty soup, we boldly order and suffer the consequences later.
Pork Noodle Soup Noodles (RM12)
- Yam Rice
- White Rice
- Glass Noodle
- Cintan Mee
- Bihun
- Mee Suah
Murphy ordered the mixed Pork Bitter Gourd Soup with white rice.
I ordered the Pork Bitter Gourd and Kiam Chai with
- Minced Pork
- Pork Balls
- Fish Balls
- Liver
The portion is big; just one bowl can feed two people comfortably.
The minced pork adds a beefy flavor to the soup.
I didn’t think I could eat the Porky ingredients and the noodles, so I didn’t order any.
The stall is generous with ingredients and flexible customer orders.
Whatever ingredients you choose will be great.
My big bowl had tomatoes, Bitter Gourd, Kiam Chai, and cilantro for garnish.
Pork Soup Broth
The soup broth is clear and not cloudy (bone broth), which I liked. The soup is salty-sweet from all the porky ingredients.
The only condiment I used to enhance the saltiness was soya sauce with sliced bird’ s-eye chilies for heat.
I’m not so into pork soup, but this is delicious.
The soup was fantastic and reasonably priced at RM10 for a big bowl of goodness.
Nice Pork Soup
We went early at 10.00 am and were the first few customers.
The table next to us ordered the pork soup with yam rice and quickly ate it.
Review of Pork Noodle Soup With Pig Innards
We came to eat porky soup. The soup was fantastic, and the pork tasted fresh and clean. The price is very reasonable.
It is effortless to locate the area using GPS. There is ample parking along the road near the Pasar Kampung Baharu.
The shop’s ventilation was also adequate, not too hot and stuffy when eating.
The aunty and uncle are both friendly and helpful with recommendations and help with my ordering.
If you like all Porky ingredients, parts, innards, especially Pig Fallopian Tubes – this is the best porky soupy bowl to warm you up.
The uncle and aunty are very nice, decent folks who do everything by themselves.
When you eat innards, you must go to a stall that cleans everything – Uncle does an excellent job.
Clean porky soup – clean taste. NICE soup.
