A Semi Buffet Dinner Worth Getting Fired Up About

This fire-forward concept reimagines the Penang hotel buffet.

Tired of cold trays and limp salads?

Here you get slow-roasted meats, small-batch sides, and a blackboard menu that keeps things exciting.

At the launch, the energy was high.

Content creators, media friends, hospitality insiders, and corporate guests all showed up hungry.

And judging by the empty plates, they came prepared.

General Manager Michael Smeeton and Executive Assistant Manager Tobias Lackermeier were on hand to welcome guests.

Director of Food & Beverage, Rodrigo Benedicto Borges introduced the fire-crafted concept with passion.

Rotisserie Meat

Grilled meats are always the Main Event

The rotisserie station is where it all begins.

And honestly?

Where it ends too, because you’ll keep coming back.

Pssst… I snuck in a slice of steak after dessert. No regrets.

Whole cuts of beef, chicken, lamb, and prawns slowly turn over open flames.

It’s theatre, it’s aroma, it’s the kind of setup that makes you hover with your plate.

Pretending to make conversation just to be first in line.

(It’s not just me… right?)

The beef? Smoky and juicy. Chicken? Golden and crisp.

The prawns? Charred, sweet, and gone too fast.

Every piece was carved hot and fresh.

Sides That Steal the Scene

Beyond the grill, it’s a side dish playground.

Bowls of stir-fried veggies.

Comforting hearty soups.

Sushi rolls and sashimi galore filled the chilled section.

Fresh, colourful, and gone in a flash.

Salads so fresh they could headline a picnic.

And let me talk about the potatoe salad.

Creamy, buttery, and topped with crispy beef bacon crumbles—pure comfort food with a cheeky grin.

I should know. I try the potato salad at every buffet, and this one?

Loaded and worth every bite.

Cool, Fresh, and On Ice

The chilled station was a hit, stacked with sushi rolls, fresh sashimi, and cold seafood on ice.

Plump oysters, prawns, and mussels sat pretty on crushed ice.

They called my name, all just waiting to be dressed with a squeeze of lemon or a dash of mignonette.

Clean, briny, and refreshing—exactly what you’d want before diving into the heavier fire-grilled dishes.

Pasta Station

Everyone made a beeline for the pasta corner, and for good reason.

Yes, while there was linguine and spaghetti.

But the ravioli? Star of the show.

Pillowy pockets filled with cheese and spinach, swimming in a rich, creamy sauce.

We tried a pesto version and a spiced-up Korean twist.

Both excellent.

Greedy me only wished for plumper ravioli and more cheese!

And maybe for them to stay on the menu forever.

Charcuterie

Imagine a board so pretty it deserves its own shoot.

French-inspired hard and soft cheeses.

Dried apricots, fresh grapes, strawberries, nuts, crackers, sun-dried tomatoes, and crusty bread made up the full spread.

It felt like a picnic you’d want to stretch out for hours.

I piled my plate without shame.

And yes, I went back for extra feta cubes. Don’t judge me.

Desserts

To End (or Start) with, your call.

The dessert spread was generous and full of personality.

Tiramisu that didn’t skimp on the espresso.

Pineapple compote with coconut ice cream—a tropical match made in buffet heaven.

And a lemon meringue tart so good it deserved a standing ovation.

The View, the Vibe, the Music

Set outdoors with the Batu Ferringhi sea breeze drifting in, the vibe is effortlessly chill.

Add in live music or a DJ set on selected Saturdays and you’ve got the kind of place that makes you forget about time.

It’s casual enough for family outings, lively enough for date nights, and tasty enough to bring you back more than once.
