The commemorative book, authored by Australian historian Marcus Langdon and Penangite Rachel Yeoh, captures five decades of shared history, cultural exchange, and mutual respect.
The book highlights the achievements, collaborations, and deepening connections between George Town, Penang, and Adelaide, Australia, reflecting the stories that have shaped the sister-city partnership.

Speech by Penang Mayor Dato’ Ir. Rajendran
During the launch, Penang’s Mayor, Dato’ Ir. Rajendran Anthony delivered an inspiring speech that underscored the significance of this milestone.
“This book is a reflection of five decades of a committed bond that celebrates shared achievements, mutual respect, and a deep cultural connection that has grown over the decades,” said Mayor Rajendran.
He further praised the collaboration between the authors, Marcus Langdon and Rachel Yeoh, for capturing the unique perspectives that define the relationship between the two cities.
“Inside the pages, you’ll find stories that highlight the intertwined histories of our cities, the visionary leaders who brought us together, and the voices of community leaders who have played pivotal roles in strengthening our bond,” the Mayor added.
Mayor Rajendran also expressed hope for the partnership’s future, stating,
