Family Mart food items have the most choices – each Family Mart store has an average of 2,500 different products with some 500 imported items.
Before Family Mart entered Malaysia, the locals used only convenience marts in Japan, Taiwan, and Thailand.
The reason was the dizzying combination of services each store offers in one location – pay your bills and even send parcels.
Get ready to be spoilt for choice.
The store delivers various snacks and meals daily for freshness.
If you’re wondering (like me), each Family Mart store has an average of 2,500 products, including some 500 imported items.
Remember that Family Mart’s most popular products are always available (until they are sold out for the day).
You can shop for the original Family Mart Omusubi (rice balls), hot snacks, sweets, beverages, cosmetics, and more.
Since 2016, the appeal of heading to a Family Mart has always been a tempting idea.
People head there after meals for a budget Frappe or Sofuto (Soft Serve Ice Cream).
The brand image is now a household name, with Family Mart stores open for takeaway and deliveries during CMCO.
So, what are the top items to buy from a treasure trove of products?
I will go for the pricey imported items, as they cost more if I need to factor in an air ticket to Japan!
Before we dive in, let’s settle the question of everyone’s mind about the store’s halal status.
Family Mart Halal Status
All items in their food service and ready-to-eat food selection are made exclusively with HALAL ingredients.
Both stores offer products that are already HALAL certified, clearly displaying the HALAL logo on their packaging.
This ensures that Muslim customers can confidently purchase and consume these items without any concerns.
For imported products, Family Mart management has vetted the ingredients carefully to ensure they are free of haram.
As an added precaution, customers are advised to carefully read the information on the packaging of ingredients before purchasing.

Did you know that the Family Mart Hot Snacks is so popular there’s a separate queue for it?
You can see from the top takeaways that delivery orders are for the Oden with Ramen.

If you guessed Oden, it’s a no. 2 right after Fried Chicken and Sausages.
Head to the hot bar section by the cashier to find a selection of hot snacks.

As these are popular, I’ve occasionally found the steamer empty.

Famichiki
If you’re a fan of fried chicken, you will love Family Mart’s ‘Famichiki.’

Pepé Le Pew introduced this to us at the Family Mart Pulau Tikus outlet.
The Fried Chicken was a crispy golden brown and juicy inside.
Verdict: I loved it!
We wanted ice cream after a Lok Lok dinner at the night market.
Later we ended up having Famichiki and Sofuto (Soft Serve Ice Cream) and lots of laughs!
Don’t get distracted by the Oden or Jumbo Sausages as you queue.
‘Famichiki.’ is readily available in the hot food section at any time of day, all year round.
Sausages
The jumbo Double Cheese Corn Sausage features a delightfully crispy and golden exterior, making it irresistible.
Inside, it is filled with a flavorful smoked chicken sausage combined with rich cheddar cheese for an indulgent taste experience.
Or any other sausage available, for that matter, tastes equally as good!
My brain says you must order, Pepé!

Coffee
In need of a caffeine kick?
When it comes to coffee, everyone has a different preference, whether cold or hot.
Family Mart uses a specialty blend of 100% Arabica coffee beans from Ethiopia, Peru, Brazil, and Uganda!
Those who prefer a bolder and more robust taste may find the coffee weak and acidic.
Some who prefer a weaker brew will like a balanced dilute cuppa.
I like it because it is not strong but very balanced.
However, some people who prefer a bold taste will say the coffee is too weak and acidic.
Some taste better, while some are so dilute.
I’m unsure if it’s the quality of the beans or the way your staff handles them.
Non-coffee drinkers can get a matcha latte or chocolate drink!
- Americano
- Latte
- Cappuccino
- Mocha
- Iced Americano

One of the things I loved was browsing the imported drinks in the refrigerated coolers.
The ones that catch your eye are the famous Taiwan milk teas, Thai probiotic drinks, Korean-flavored banana milk, Japanese iced tea, and more.

Desserts
With so many items vying for the top spot in the sweets section, I’m inclined to nominate the popular Sofuto and the lesser-known Family Mart Frappe.
Sofuto (Soft Serve Ice Cream)
Sofuto is easily one of the most famous treats at Family Mart!
Many of us enjoy this sweet dessert at the end of a meal (elsewhere :D)
The most popular flavor is Matcha (available all year round).
Look out for the new releases of limited-time unique seasonal flavors like durian, coconut, cheese, melon, sweet potato, and more.
Frappe
The Family Mart Frappe is a lesser-known drink that deserves more recognition!
Pick a Frappe from the freezer and head to the counter to add the flavor you want (chocolate/milk/ coffee).
Available in 11 flavors to quench your thirst – You can find flavors like Adzuki Matcha, Mocha, Milk Watermelon Lychee, Milk Mango Grapefruit, and more.
Once the hot liquid is added, you’ve got your frappe without needing a blender!
Sando (Japanese Fruit Sandwich)
Dessert sandwiches may sound strange, but sweet treats are delicious at Family Mart!
Family Mart wins for affordable sweet treats at a fraction of the price at Café outlets.
The pretty dessert Japanese Fruit Sandwich, Sando, is filled with fruit, cream, and other toppings.
You will like these once you have tried them.
Mini Basque Burnt Cheesecake
Another crowd favorite is Family Mart’s Mini Basque Burnt Cheesecake.
Tiny but mighty – this little cheesecake has the perfect mouthfeel that promises creaminess.
Look out for the Chocolate Cheesecake at the bottom; these are also available!
Hanjuku Cheese
If you don’t want a big slice of cheesecake, you can still enjoy the treat with the Hanjuku Cheese from Family Mart.
The half-baked Japanese-style cheesecake has a rich & creamy cheese center.
Swiss Roll Slice
Family Mart Swiss Roll Slice is a moist spongey cake wrapped around a generous helping of flavored cream.
It comes in Matcha and Chocolate flavors.
Mini Desserts
Family Mart’s mini desserts are single-serve, from Strawberry Shortcake to Chocolate Mousse, Matcha Parfait, Original Pudding, and more.
Conclusion
Everything from delectable meals, snacks, and drinks can be obtained at this one-stop store!
