Crumbz Cafe At City Junction Mall Penang

Crumbz is a café inside City Junction, a shopping mall in Tanjung Tokong.

We just finished our appointment and Thai food lunch appointment and wanted to try a new coffee place.

Maybe cakes and coffee?

I chimed in, thinking bagel wasn’t something I’ll go for in terms of desserts.

We made our way to Crumbz on the ground floor of City Junction Mall.

It rained earlier, and the entrance was still wet.

City Junction Mall’s staff was sweeping the excess water away.

Still, it looked slippery, and we gingerly made our way to the entrance, passing by Village Grocer.

Debbie: Do you want to look around?

Dory: Probably another trip. I know I’ll be stuck at the frozen food section looking at icecreams AGAIN.

Crumbz – Mugshot Cafe’s first offshoot.

Debbie: Remember Mugshot Café in George Town?

Dory: Yes, I remember. The Mugshot Cafe at Chulia Street is reputed to serve one of Penang’s best bagels and homemade yogurt with various toppings.

Crumbz an offshoot of Mugshot offers signature bagels, great pastries, croissants, and coffee at City Junction in Tanjung Tokong.

It is the place for cakes and coffee in a modern contemporary cafe setting.

Crumbz Vibes

As I stepped into the café, we felt at ease and had positive vibes.

The café is spacious and comfortable.

There is ample seating at the spacious cafe, widely spaced following Covid-19 SOPs.

There are two seating areas with large comfortable sofas for those who wish to relax.

Like Mugshot, Crumbz is an excellent café for friends and family to check in for coffee, breakfast, brunch, and a light meal.

Crumbz has the vibes for people to relax, reconnect with friends, hang out, and relax.

Debbie chose the loveliest spot with the Crumbz backdrop.

The brightly lit café has dozens of lights that beautifully light up the pastries and cakes display.

Everything was aesthetically pleasing.

Nothing beats buying pastries on display, as most picture menus are deceiving.

Crumbz has a small menu offers freshly baked pastries, cakes, and sandwiches.

If you don’t get distracted by the smells and sights of the cakes in the glass showcase, you get to order from the menu.

Mugshot’s meu items and Rainforest Bakery’s bread and their range of tasty beverages remain firmly in Crumbz.

The signature bagels, sandwiches, cakes, and artisanal bread are within arm’s reach.

The folks from Batu Ferringhi and Tanjung Bungah who don’t fancy a trip to George Town can enjoy the delicious treats served at the iconic Mugshot Cafe.

The cafe co-founder Jesse Tan said Crumbz would initially offer the same items and menu provided in Mugshot, which would eventually evolve and change according to customers’ demands in this area.

Crumbz also introduces more substantial meals at the cafes, beginning with three pasta dishes.

Debbie and I were delighted by the array of pastries on display.

We looked at the counter filled with an assortment of baked treats and loaves of bread.

There are plump muffins and buttery, flaky croissants.

Croissants and sandwich fillings include egg salad, avocado egg, and the ham egg cheese brioche.

For the signature bagels, the filling options are cream cheese & smoked salmon, bacon & egg, and turkey ham & blueberry sauce.

Try the peach croissant or the chocolate croissant if you have a sweet tooth.

We glanced at the menu, read the mains, bagels, and sandwiches, and decided on cheesecake and coffee.

Customers are in for a treat and dessert experience with various creative cakes.

You can choose to add on an extra shot (RM3) or a choice of Almond or Oat milk (RM2)

Beyond their coffee, the cafe also offers tea, hot chocolate, smoothies, fresh juices, and yogurts loaded up with mouth-watering toppings.

Crumbz is open from 7 AM to 8 PM daily and is just a hop and a skip away from the upscale Village Grocer.
