Bee: You need ice cream and coffee. To unwind and relax.
Dory: Where to?
Bee: Crème De La Crème or CDLC
Dory: Is it expensive?
Bee: Counting pennies again, Dory?
Dory: Penny will surely kill me for this.

Crème De La Crème Location
If you drive from Jalan Argyll and turn into Lorong Argyll, the shop is directly in front.
Crème De La Crème is on Hutton Lane, next to Secawan Hutton.
Artisanal Ice Cream Parlor in Penang
I remember Penny brought me to try Merry Ice Cream, which was RM9.90 for a single scoop.
One day, we found another café that sells the same stuff, the number one flavor, Gula Melaka, for RM8.90.
I was rejoicing.
I know, I’m being my typical Penang Kiamsiap Auntie.
Bee brought Penny and me to Creameal Handcrafted Ice Cream; those were RM6.50 for a single scoop.
I was gleefully telling Penny that we could have three scoops for the price of two Merry Ice Creams.
Penny: But not your favorite Gula Melaka flavor.
Dory: I can find something salted and make-belief.
Penny: Aiyoh, Aunty, I will buy you an ice cream, LAH.
So at Crème De La Crème, which means the very best, I was again being my Aunty self.
Dory: Why so expensive? Why RM10.90 per scoop?
Bee: The scoops are bigger, can you see?
Dory: There are cakes, too.
Bee: Ice cream and coffee, dear Dory.
Crème De La Crème Interior
CDLC has two display fridges as you enter the shop.
One is for the gorgeous little Ice Cream Cakes.
These are just too pretty to eat.
The other one displays a range of artisanal Ice Cream flavors.
Whitewashed walls and minimalist interior work for me.
A wooden cutout or stencil pattern covered the wall next to the staircase.
The refurbished shophouse’s Air-Well is leveled with the floor.
A long table with zen plants stands sentry as adornments against the whitewashed exposed brick wall.
We loved the square table with the cut-out for a tree and sat there swinging our legs, eating ice cream,
Crème De La Crème Menu
Each scoop is RM10.90, and for Premium Flavor (+ Rm 2)
While visually, the layout of the ice cream is pleasing, it’s the finding out the non-premium (+6
%) and Premium Flavor, which makes ordering a challenge.
Nope, there’s no little flag to mark the difference.
The staff are helpful and will try to explain, but it gets confusing after a while.
So we just ordered whatever we wanted.
Just too much hassle to try and find out and budget.
Single Cup RM10.90
Double Cup RM14.90
#Additional RM2 for a waffle cone
#Additional RM2 for one Premium Flavour
Dory

Crème De La Crème Review
Crème De La Crème is an ice cream parlor for sundae lovers to check out.
While I had initially complained bitterly about the price (being so Aunty)- the ice creams are lovely, rich, and luxurious without any cheap flavorings.
The Premium Flavour is all very friendly and not coyly sweet.
The experience was lovely, and I am tempted to return for a Double Cup on the next trip.
After the good mouthfeel of the ice cream, the coffee tasted too acidic and not smooth.
