After years of countless food day trips to Ipoh, I finally did something different — I stayed the night at MU Hotel Ipoh.
We used to drive down, hop from one eatery to another, and head home.
The car will be laden with bags of salted chicken, pomelo, and traditional biscuits.
That’s been our classic Ipoh ritual for as long as I can remember.

MU Hotel is right in Ipoh city.
It is surrounded by shops, cafés, and some of the best eating streets in town.
The location is perfect if you love exploring on foot.
The hotel opened in 2013 and still feels fresh and contemporary when I visited.
It’s close to the city’s cultural spots and within walking distance of major attractions.
Inside, it’s calm and quiet — a peaceful escape from the weekend buzz outside.

There’s free Wi-Fi, a minibar, coffee and tea facilities, slippers, an iron and board, and even extra pillows in the wardrobe.

Breakfast at MUnch Café is simple but hits the spot.
Think local and Western favorites — eggs, toast, coffee, and butter that tastes like the real deal.
Ipoh is a food haven, so the hotel wisely keeps breakfast light.
After all, why fill up when dim sum, curry mee, and kopitiam toast await outside?
I went for toast and a hot cuppa, then planned my day’s food trail. Perfect start.

Evenings at MÙ Rooftop Bar
When evening rolled around, I headed up to the Rooftop Bar.
From there, the view of Ipoh’s skyline and surrounding hills was stunning.
The air was cool, the vibe relaxed.
And the MÙ signature cocktail — a refreshing mix of pomelo juice and cinnamon — was the perfect nod to the city’s famous fruit.
It’s the kind of place you can sit for hours, watching the lights flicker on below.

My weekend at MU Hotel Ipoh was exactly what I hoped for — relaxing, unhurried, and easy.
The staff were friendly, the room comfortable, and breakfast simple yet satisfying.
I especially loved the rooftop bar views and the fact that I could walk to most of my favorite local eateries.
