Even when I’m not on a budget, I enjoy eating tasty 7 Eleven Toasties—ham and cheese is the best!
Thailand, Taiwan, Japan, and Malaysia have many 7-Eleven convenience stores. These are great places to hang out and shop.
For some, 7 Eleven is a great go-to place for cigarettes, condoms, and two large Chang beers to get the night started or keep the night going.

Ham & Cheese Toasties are great for a Quick Breakkie!
On my last trip to Bangkok, we stayed at STAY Hotel Bangkok, which was excellent.
It has a 7-Eleven directly opposite the hotel.
I could only think of Cheese Toasty, Ham and Cheese Toasties, and junk food.
The FamilyMart is a 5-minute walk away, and MacDonald’s is 7 minutes from the FamilyMart outlet.
For our breakfast and supper, we eat toasties instead of instant noodles!
Confession: the hotel’s breakfast costs THB250; a Ham & Cheese Toastie is only THB25!
I know I’m cheap, but those darn toasties taste so good they’re practically addictive.
I even repurchased some sandwiches at home for my breakfast!
For my 4D3N trip, I must confess that I packed in 4 Ham & Cheese Toasties!
I foresee a rise in that number by the end of the year with more trips coming up.
The grilled sandwiches are enough to warm our tummies and souls.
What is a 7-Eleven Ham and Cheese Toastie?
It’s a simple concept, just a slice of ham, a piece of cheese sandwiched between 2 slices of white bread.
You purchase one for about THB25 (remember to watch out for offers!)
The cashier will ask if you want this toasted, and she pops it in a sandwich press, and 3 minutes later, you have a delicious treat.
There are other variants to this culinary delight; some have double cheese or ham slices.
Others are in a croissant.
But I still love the winning formula.

Not that I can read Thai. I don’t bother.
I am looking for 7-11 Ham and Cheese Toasties with Extra Cheese!
And lots of Cheese Flavours.
There’s one called Burnt Cheese, a very delicious cheese variety to enjoy.
It also depends on the neighborhood you stay in.
Krung Thep Maha Nakhon is a posh area with high-end condos, so there was still some toasties to find at night.
You’ll be lucky to find a toastie on the shelf in all the beach towns by lunchtime!
I’ve heard stories of a budget traveler buying 5-10 toasties at a time for lunch and dinner later in the evenings.

7 Eleven Burgers
These days, there is an impressive range of burgers at 7-11.
I tried the burgers, which are reheated in a microwave.
The heated meats and fillings taste good, but the bun turns greasy and soggy.
A better bet is to try the more Thai-inspired sticky rice burgers.
You can get locally inspired sticky rice street food staples, such as Moo Ping (marinated pork) or a spicy Kaprao.
Moo Zaap (pork and holy basil) is tasty, although I stick to the street food originals because I don’t fancy eating microwaved food.
