Menya Miyabi Hokkaido Ramen at Queensbay Mall

Burnt Garlic Ramen (Kogashi Niniku) at Menya Miyabi

Menya Miyabi has a delicious signature Burnt Garlic Ramen (Kogashi Niniku)

Menya Miyabi may be a quiet restaurant on the row compared to others in Queensbay Mall, but it packs a mean bowl of ramen.

For fans of Burnt Garlic Ramen (Kogashi Niniku), this place is a real treat.

Cozy, simple, and traditional, it instantly gives you that old-Tokyo ramen shop vibe.

The restaurant is clean and welcoming, and the staff are friendly without being overzealous.

Every dish is cooked individually, so be prepared for a little wait.

If you want a bit of theatre with your meal, you could peek into the kitchen and watch the chefs at work.

It’s perfect for chatting, or playing on your phone while waiting.

For some it was eavesdropping.

The bowls are nicely presented, though my square of seaweed decided to take a little bow when it arrived.

Burnt Garlic Ramen vs. Spicy Sesame Miso

We ordered two bowls to share, wanting to taste different broths.

At first, I was a little nervous about trying the Tonkotsu, known for being rich, creamy, and packed with porky flavor.

SC chose Burnt Garlic Ramen (Kogashi Niniku) and I settled on Spicy Sesame Miso (Goma Kara Miso).

Rich and flavorful Spicy Sesame Miso (Goma Kara Miso) at Menya Miyabi.

Once we tasted the broths, it was clear they had been simmered for hours to achieve that deep, comforting taste and velvety texture.

It’s the kind of broth that hugs the noodles and makes every slurp feel indulgent.

Both bowls are garnished with tender chashu and a half of a jammy ajitama egg.

Honestly, we wished we had ordered a full egg each.

Sometimes I’m that greedy!

It would have made the experience even more indulgent.

Burnt Garlic Ramen (Kogashi Niniku)

Garlic lovers, the Kogashi Niniku is your ramen. Period.

The broth is rich, creamy, and full of deep roasted garlic flavour.

The garlic pips, roasted and caramelized just right, give a smoky crunch in every bite.

The curly noodles hold the broth perfectly, and the chashu has that lovely balance of light roasting and melt-in-the-mouth fat.

Spicy Sesame Miso (Goma Kara Miso)

The Spicy Sesame Miso (Goma Kara Miso) came garnished with thinly sliced raw leeks that added a crisp, mildly sweet contrast to the chewy noodles.

The miso broth had good flavour and a pleasant warmth, but it didn’t hit as hard or as boldly as the Kogashi Niniku.

It was a satisfying bowl, just a little gentler on the palate and less dramatic in comparison.

The Verdict

Both bowls were good, but we agreed without hesitation that the Kogashi Niniku was the clear winner.

The roasted garlic aroma, rich broth, and crunchy caramelized garlic pips made it unforgettable.

At RM33 a bowl (RM41.50 with unlimited green tea), it isn’t the cheapest option, but the flavour makes it worth every ringgit.

The portion is a little small for a big eater, yet just right for most diners.

If you love ramen, this is a bowl worth going out of your way for.

Other Highlights

Menya Miyabi also serves set meals and value combos, along with side dishes like gyoza and rice bowls.

Unlimited green tea keeps the meal refreshing, and the seasonings on the table let you adjust the flavours just the way you like them.

Why Menya Miyabi Stands Out

Menya Miyabi Hokkaido Ramen in Bayan Lepas delivers flavours that punch well above its quiet appearance.

Think rich, Japanese-style ramen that can hold its own even against places like Bari-Uma.

The broth is full of character and the handmade noodles give that satisfying chew you want in a proper bowl of ramen.

I only wished for a thicker slice of flame-seared chashu and a whole jammy egg.

That would have made the meal perfect. Still, the bowl held its ground.

The broth is rich and aromatic, and the caramelized garlic pips give every spoonful a deep, smoky kick.

It is the kind of comforting ramen I would happily drive out for on a rainy day.

A simple meal that makes you feel good the moment you taste it.
