One of the best Ramadan meals I have recently had was at the spanking new LUFFA café.
Operated by Irama Dining, it promises the same on-point taste as their renowned restaurants in Penang.
If you’ve visited Café Lagenda, Irama, Tamarra, or Sutera, you’ll be glad to know there’s another new outlet to try.
LUFFA by Irama Dining is housed in the newly renovated The Leith Hotel at Lebuh Leith.
It’s quickly becoming a culinary gem, offering a unique dining experience in the heart of George Town.
The café has two areas: an air-conditioned café, a private dining room, and ‘garden’ dining.
Upon stepping in, guests are greeted with a cozy yet modern ambiance, where the comforting hum of chatter mingles with the tantalizing aromas wafting from the kitchen.
One of LUFFA’s highlights is its versatile dining options.
Guests can choose between air-conditioned indoor seating or alfresco dining amidst lush greenery and gentle evening breezes, promising a tailored experience.
Buka Puasa Dinner
Aida and I decided to “berbuka puasa” together at LUFFA and enjoyed ourselves immensely.
Before the Shell Out was served, we indulged in an enticing selection of appetizers, salads, and sides from the buffet counter.
We got items such as Noodle Soup, Tomyam, Kerabu, Fried Rice, Nuggets, Lamb Chops with Mash Potatoes, Alio Olio Pasta, Mac & Cheese, Spring Roll, Sushi, Fruit Skewers, and two drinks each to start.
Right after the call to the Maghrib prayer, around sunset, we indulged in the options, whetting our appetites before diving into the main attraction – the LUFFA Shell Out.
LUFFA Shell Out
Now, let’s talk about the star of the show – the Shell Out dinner.
This innovative concept takes seafood indulgence to a whole new level.
Picture a platter brimming with an assortment of freshly caught seafood – succulent prawns, plump mussels, tender squid, and delicate crab legs, served ‘hidang’ style on a banana leaf-lined platter.
Cooked with cauliflower and broccoli, the spicy-sweet sauce was on point and tasted awesome.
As we savored each bite, we quickly understood why LUFFA had become the talk of the town.
The quality of the ingredients shone through in every dish, reflecting the café’s commitment to sourcing the freshest produce and seafood from local suppliers.
Each mouthful celebrated Penang’s culinary heritage, showcasing the island’s rich tapestry of flavors and influences.
What truly set LUFFA apart was its dedication to creating a memorable dining experience.
Whether you’re a seafood aficionado or a culinary adventurer, the attentive staff was always on hand to ensure that our dining experience exceeded expectations.
As the evening drew to a close, we had our fill of Malay Kueh Mueh, Ice Cream, and Ais Kacang, and we leaned back, happy.
Other satisfied diners lingered over their last bites, too.
All were happy with the meal and felt satisfied.
