An Viet Soup-er Hot Stone A5 Japanese Wagyu Pho

An Viet has recently introduced its Soup-er Hot Stone A5 Japanese Wagyu Pho, a must-try for Malaysian pho fans.

I recall my first visit to Hanoi, the pho haven, where I naively noted that the city boasted nothing but the best beef noodle restaurants at every street corner.

Keep an eye out for An Viet at Gurney Plaza. I noticed tourists checking out of the nearby G Hotel heading straight for a meal here—a truly amazing testimony.

When An Viet invited me to sample their Soup-er Hot Stone A5 Japanese Wagyu Pho, I hoped to experience the same authentic Vietnamese, lip-smacking, beefy goodness.

Restaurateur Ms. Caren Poon graciously treated Chris and me to their newly launched menu at An Viet.

Caren opened An Viet to encourage people to avoid wasting food, expressing deep concern about the substantial global issue of food waste.

“While on vacation in Vietnam, I discovered that Vietnamese cuisine creatively utilizes every part of a plant or animal.” – Caren Poon, Managing Director, An Viet

According to her, the Vietnamese food philosophy aligns with our cause to reduce food waste due to its minimal wastage.

We enjoyed a delightful time exchanging food stories and discussing various Vietnamese dishes we had sampled during our travels to Vietnam.

Poon wishes to inspire An Viet patrons to savor and consume food that is painstakingly prepared from scratch with premium, all-natural ingredients.

One of the most notable aspects of Vietnamese cuisine is the freshness of its ingredients and the lightness of flavors that we genuinely appreciate.

Vietnamese cuisine features an abundance of herbs, with the most magnificent herbal ingredient being Cilantro (ngò gai).

Other herbs that we adore for their fragrance include Thai Basil (húng quế), Vietnamese Coriander (rau răm), Mint (bạc hà), Ginger (gừng), Garlic (tỏi), Chinese Chives (hẹ), and the less common Bitter Herb (rau đắng).

What is Pho Hanoi?

Pho Hanoi considered Vietnam’s premier bowl of savory delight, is characterized by its clear and aromatic beef broth.

This culinary masterpiece is crafted through a meticulous process involving the slow-cooking of beef bones, a blend of spices, and fragrant herbs.

The hallmark of Pho Hanoi is its simplicity. Its keen emphasis is on achieving a delicate balance of flavors within the broth.

At An Viet, this culinary tradition is honored by creating clear beef broth without MSG!

This broth achieves its exceptional flavor through a patient 12-hour simmering process. It is meticulously crafted by blending various types of beef bones, spices, and premium fish sauce from Vietnam.

The result is an irreplicable umami taste that sets it apart.

The result is a naturally nuanced, beefy flavor that captures the essence of the authentic Pho Hanoi experience.

Soup-er Hot Stone A5 Japanese Wagyu Pho

We had the opportunity to indulge in a culinary experience at An Viet with their Soup-er Hot Stone Pho.

They seamlessly blended the traditional comfort of Vietnamese pho with the abundant richness of A5 Japanese wagyu beef.

And best of all, it was served in a sizzling hot stone bowl!

A5 Japanese Wagyu Pho

At An Viet, we pride ourselves on using Tokushima-sourced A5 Japanese wagyu beef renowned for its magnificent marbling.

This results in a melt-in-the-mouth tenderness that ensures the ultimate satisfaction in every bite of our pho.

We got to choose from three irresistible Pho bowls, each accompanied by a hearty, beefy soup perfected over 12 hours of simmering beef bones and spices.

In keeping with An Viet’s mission to reduce waste, customers are asked to select a 100-, 150-, or 200-gram serving of noodles.

You can request up to 200 grams of free top-ups if you want more noodles for your meal.

You can be confident that when you eat at An Viet, you will not only enjoy delicious Vietnamese cuisine but also help reduce food waste.

Chris and I shared the enormous bowl as our main course.

It is large enough for small eaters or those who prefer snacks before a meal.

Wagyu Supreme Pho RM39.90

A5 Japanese Wagyu Beef.

We sampled the Wagyu Special Pho at a surprisingly affordable RM34.90 per bowl.

This pho from An Viet is not just as good as their reputation for great ingredients and preparation; it might even become our new favorite high-quality bowl, replacing the uncle-aunty beef noodles in town.

To make sure it’s really fresh, each dish comes unassembled.

You can put the ingredients into the hot stone bowl yourself.

After tasting, my vote goes to the A5 Japanese Wagyu Beef paired with homemade 100% pure beef balls.

How To Cook the A5 Japanese Wagyu Pho

Like many, I’m unsure how to cook expensive Wagyu beef properly.

The sizzling hot stone bowl enhances the A5 Japanese Wagyu.

The broth is boiled just before serving, ensuring it’s bubbling and steaming at the perfect temperature.

The hot stone bowl serves a dual purpose, effectively regulating the soup’s consistent heat throughout the meal.

This ensures that each spoonful fully captures the vibrant, aromatic blend of flavors and textures.

First, the rice noodles, veggies, and herbs are added. Lastly, the Japanese Wagyu beef A5!

We discovered that the optimal way to consume the A5 was to cook it after tucking into some noodles, beef balls, and tripe.

Ms. Caren demonstrated how to cook the A5 gently, achieving a pink hue by sweeping it over the warm soup.

The well-maintained latent heat from the hot stone bowl ensures it cooks perfectly.

What a huge difference!

We relished a succulent meal with each cut of Wagyu, owing to its beautiful marbling and high-fat content.

With a melting point below body temperature, Wagyu melts in our mouths.

This will convert you, even if you’re not a big fan of pho!

The beautiful marbling of the A5 Japanese Wagyu sets this pho apart, making it truly exceptional.

Another highlight is the large, springy, 100% house-made pure beef balls, among my favorite pho bowl features.

Ms. Caren explained that these beef balls are made fresh without using flour as a binder, and I can assure you that they taste delicious and delightfully bouncy!

However, if all you want to do is savor authentic A5 Wagyu, I highly recommend the Wagyu Supreme Pho (RM39.90), which is a great option.

It comes with five delicious slices of Japan’s most delicious beef.

Stunning—the exceptional All Beef A5 Japanese Wagyu slices are ready for the pot!

We adore the exquisitely sliced A5 Japanese wagyu beef for the perfect thickness; it’s a wonderfully smooth, decadent upgrade from regular beef, with a flavorful harmony of fleshiness and fattiness.

This bowl is worth trying if you’re a pho enthusiast with a fiery appetite and can take the heat!

LOL

Be careful; the stone bowl is very, very hot!
