Let’s Meat Review: Finding the Best American Breakfast in Penang

Let’s Meat at Lembah Permai is said to serve one of the heftiest American breakfasts in Penang.

We decided to check out this local favourite in the quiet suburbs of Tanjung Bungah for a change of pace.

George Town gets too hot and humid, and the greens of the hills were a refreshing alternative.

Southern Comfort at Let’s Meat

We were eager to dive into some serious Southern comfort food before the Saturday crowd got too thick.

And believe me, this cafe did not disappoint.

I remember I was here in 2017.

There’s a wonderful “friendly neighborhood” vibe to the Permai 32 shoplots; it’s the kind of area where the cafes feel welcoming and intentional.

Let’s Meat itself is cozy and chill, featuring a unique community library called “The Literary Frog Library.”

You’ll find plenty of IKEA Billy bookcases filled with titles to browse while you wait for your meal.

It’s also perfectly equipped for families, with a dedicated play corner to keep the little ones entertained. Be warned, though: it gets busy and “buzzy” on Saturday mornings!

Daily Specials You Can’t Miss

What sets Let’s Meat apart is a range of daily specials that are hard to find anywhere else in Penang.

We’re talking authentic staples like fluffy Buttermilk Pancakes and the holy grail of Southern breakfasts: Biscuits and Gravy.

The menu had a lot of options. Justin tried their healthy bowl before and said those were good.

i just wanted something less healthy and preferably with bacon or sausages.

Well sausages patties were good as these didn;t have any casing.

Here’s why Let’s Meat remains a staple for anyone craving a real American breakfast in Penang.

The Hungry Man (RM55.60)

The dish came with a warning. It’s for a very, very hungry man.

This is essentially a massive, meat-focused American-style platter.

It arrived on two separate plates.

Think of a full breakfast, just much heavier.

Tip: If you’re not quite up for the challenge, they also offer a “Not-So-Hungry Hungry Man” version.

And there I was, still debating whether to order my favourite Southern biscuits and gravy.

Justin said, “Let’s order the burrito to share.” He’s always very positive when it comes to ordering more food.
