We ended up at Xin Yee Restaurant after church, following Sharon and Queenie’s recommendation—they’ve been here several times and kept raving about it.

Xin Yee Restaurant’s inviting exterior in George Town, Penang, perfect for a relaxed family lunch.
When friends return again and again, you know the food is comforting and consistent.
It was a busy Sunday lunch, and we weren’t sure what to expect with parking or seating.
Luckily, we found a spot just a few doors away—a small blessing that set the tone for the day.
Inside, the restaurant was lively, a little noisy, but in the good, bustling way that makes a place feel loved.
Conversations filled the room, and plates kept arriving hot.
Even with the crowd, we scored a table in the air conditioned section, making it a perfect
family lunch setting.

The restaurant has the kind of meal people look for—generous portions, comforting flavors, fresh ingredients, and good value for money.
The sets balance meat, seafood, and vegetables, and the service is quick enough to suit a casual weekday or weekend lunch without feeling rushed.
There were four of us, and since it was the start of New Year 2026, we decided on one of their Chinese lunch set options.
Set A, priced at RM88+ for two to four people, looked generous and sensible for a relaxed Sunday lunch.
We also ordered a big jug of Lo Han Guo with a bowl of ice.
Lightly sweet and soothing, it was perfect for sharing and set the pace for a leisurely meal.
Total meal with drinks came up to RM106.
As we are all small eaters, the restaurant helped us tapao the fish soup, vegatable, rice and the drink!
We were very happy with the service.
Food & Taste
Set A arrived steaming hot and just right for the four of us.
Every dish was meant to be shared, making the meal feel homely and satisfying.
鱼头牛奶汤(小) Fish Head Milky Soup (Small)

The star of Set A: Fish Head Milky Soup, rich, comforting, and packed with flavors at Xin Yee Restaurant.
The first dish to arrive stole the show.
The
fish head was lightly fried, giving it a gentle crisp before sliding into the rich, milky broth.
The soup was packed with tofu cubes, fish balls, pork balls, tomatoes, pickled vegetables, sour plum, and foo chook.
Rich, comforting, and slightly tangy, it made everyone reach for seconds without thinking.
芒果鸡扒(小) Mango Chicken (Small)

Lightly crispy Mango Chicken with fruity sauce, a delicious highlight of Xin Yee Restaurant’s family-style lunch set.
The mango chicken was lightly crispy on the outside, with a fruity sauce that added sweetness without overwhelming the dish.
It paired beautifully with rice and provided a refreshing contrast to the soup.
炒什菜(小) Mixed Vegetables (Small)

Fresh and lightly stir-fried mixed vegetables, a healthy balance to the richer dishes at Xin Yee Restaurant.
Fresh, lightly stir fried, and not oily, the vegetables added a clean, green balance to the richer dishes.
肉碎豆腐(小) Pork Minced Tofu (Small)

Comfort food at its best: Pork Minced Tofu, soft, savory, and perfect with hot rice at Xin Yee Restaurant.
Soft tofu topped with savoury minced pork and sauce, it soaked up the rice perfectly. Familiar and satisfying, it felt like a warm, home-cooked dish.
白饭 x 4 Rice
Hot and fluffy, the rice tied everything together and absorbed all the sauces beautifully.
罗汉果(热) Lo Han Guo (Hot Jug)
Lightly sweet and soothing, the Lo Han Guo drink was perfect for sharing and rounded out the meal.
Warm Welcome
What made this Sunday lunch special was the atmosphere.
Despite a full house and constant chatter, the meal never felt rushed.
The dishes arrived quickly, the service was friendly, and the mood stayed cheerful.
Even Esther, who joked that she had no teeth, could enjoy every bite.
It felt like eating at home—just with air conditioning and no cooking required.
Xin Yee Restaurant is perfect for a relaxed family lunch with hot, tasty food served promptly.
Honest dishes, fair pricing, and a welcoming environment made this a delightful way to start the new year—one we’d happily repeat.
