Finding Kaiden Japas Restaurant & Lounge Bar was a delightful fluke.
I was searching for a pocket-friendly Japanese set lunch that promised delicious food prepared by skilled chefs.
My search led me to Kaiden Japas, a unique gem in the culinary scene.
It has a remarkable Google 4.8-star rating from 450 reviews.
The menu, which I could conveniently download, showcased a variety of enticing options, all starting at a pocket-friendly RM18.
The crowd favorites—Saba Fish, Teriyaki Chicken, and Grilled Salmon—sealed the deal for Lisa and me.
We also noticed an add-on menu where we could order fish skin and Japanese Fried Chicken (Karaage Chicken) for just RM5.
Lisa quipped, “I’ll pick you up in 5 minutes, Fish.”
Our adventure began at Anson Cube, a part of town we rarely consider for lunch.
Parking
Parking in front of the shop lots is usually full, but a spot typically opens up patiently.
However, we opted for the basement parking.
The steep ramp was daunting, and the RM10 parking fee was a bigger deterrent.
For our austerity drive, we aimed for a set lunch under RM25.
Cozy Atmosphere
As soon as we stepped into Kaiden Japas, the relaxed and cozy atmosphere immediately stood out.
The transition from the bright outdoors to the dim interior was challenging!
But the warm welcome from fellow blogger, writer, and photographer Adrian Cheah, who waved to me, made it all the more enjoyable.
As usual, I asked for recommendations and spied on what dishes he and his dining companion had ordered.
He suggested getting the set lunches, particularly the juicy and delicious chicken and beef.
Adrian also recommended the Goma Tempura Ice Cream, a delightful treat.
The inviting decor and comfortable setting made it perfect for a leisurely meal, complemented by various alcoholic beverages.
We went for a Friday lunch with no particular expectations and left thoroughly impressed by the food.
Kaiden Japas Menu
Kaiden Japas has a large menu with a mouthwatering selection of Japanese dishes, from makimono and ramen to sushi and sashimi.
The cocktail menu is equally impressive.
You get diverse cocktails, wine, beers, and sake.
Value Meals Menu
We found the value set lunches available from 12 noon to 3 pm to be a pleasant surprise.
The quality and flavors of the dishes we enjoyed were a delightful revelation, making our outing truly worthwhile.
Lisa initially wanted to order the Saba Shioyaki Set for RM18.
In the end, we chose two set lunches to share.
Teriyaki Chicken Set (RM18)
Grilled marinated teriyaki chicken served with Japanese white rice, steamed egg, fresh salad, miso soup, and dessert of the day.
Salmon Teriyaki Set (RM28)
Grilled salmon teriyaki served with Japanese white rice, fresh salad, steamed egg, miso soup, and dessert of the day.
Each set lunch also included green tea.
There were optional side dishes available for RM3 each.
- Aji Tamago
- Tori Karaage
- Spicy Fish Skin
Other optional side dishes are available for RM5 each.
- Mini Salmon Larb
- Tori Nanban
- Chashu (2 pcs)
We had the Spicy Fish Skin and the Tori Karaage, both delicious.
Although each set lunch allowed us to choose two side dishes, we could only order one per set.
Our set lunch was delicious and notably superior to any other Japanese restaurant I had visited before.
The dishes were not just flavorful and beautifully presented.
That created a truly enjoyable dining experience.
Lisa and I only wished we had more stomach space.
We had to leave the desserts recommended by Adrian for another adventure.
The service was polite and exceptionally efficient, improving our visit and boosting our confidence in the dining experience.
Omakase Menu
For those seeking an exceptional dining experience, there’s an Omakase menu available for pre-order.
Private Rooms
Enjoy your meal in a cozy setting featuring a spacious lounge and private karaoke room.
Live Bands
Don’t miss the live band performances every Friday night!
Without a doubt, we’ll return to sample more delectable food and drinks.
