I recently enjoyed a solo staycation at Ibis PJCC Petaling Jaya, and I must say, it’s a gem for guests with limited mobility.
Location and Accessibility
Ibis PJCC is a vibrant economy hotel in Petaling Jaya’s lively Klang Valley region.
Petaling Jaya (PJ), situated in Selangor, Malaysia, was initially conceived as a satellite township for Kuala Lumpur but has since evolved into an integral part of Greater Kuala Lumpur.
The hotel’s strategic location in the bustling urban landscape of Petaling Jaya Commercial Centre offers seamless connectivity through major expressways.
With convenient access to Old Klang Road, guests can easily reach renowned shopping destinations such as Sunway Pyramid (3.1 km) and Kuala Lumpur City Centre (15.0 km).
Ibis PJCC Hotel Rooms
With 161 contemporary rooms, Ibis PJCC was meticulously designed to prioritize comfort, convenience, and modern aesthetics.
Standard Room with 1 Queen Size Bed or 2 Single Beds at 20 m² / 215 sq ft
Each room features Sweet Beds by Ibis, ensuring a restful night’s sleep.
Amenities in guest rooms include a mini fridge, safe, Smart TV, and complimentary Wi-Fi access.
Check-In Experience
The check-in process was smooth and efficient even though I checked in at 10 pm.
Kudos to the F&B Manager, Mr. Pravin Raj, who was on hand to extend a warm welcome.
Room Accommodations
Deluxe Room
The Deluxe Room I stayed in was clean and quiet. It had a comfortable bed, excellent water pressure in the shower, and pleasant bath gel.
I slept so well each night.
But let me tell you about the Accor “Sweet Bed by Ibis” – it was an absolute dream!
The bed’s firmness and soft, plush 7cm topper made for an incredibly restful sleep.
It felt like sinking into a cloud after a long day of travel.
While I thought the bed was a little higher than normal, Mr. Faesal told me it was the perfect height to slip my luggage below!
As I drifted off to sleep each night, I couldn’t help but appreciate the thoughtful design that went into crafting this bed.
Knowing that sociologists and medical experts contributed to its creation and that it’s tailored to suit different cultures worldwide added an extra layer of reassurance.
I enjoyed the bed so much that I snaked between meals and slept 10 hours each night!
I’d wake up just in time for the buffet breakfast at 9 am, feeling completely refreshed and ready to tackle the day.
The next day, the front office manager, Mr. Faezal, was very welcoming and showed me around the other rooms.
Disabled-Access Rooms
The hotel boasts seven Disabled-Access Rooms, thoughtfully designed for comfort and convenience.
Even though I stayed in a Deluxe Room, Mr. Faezal kindly showed me these special rooms when I asked if the hotel was OKU-friendly.
I was impressed by their accessibility features, including well-equipped bathrooms with grab rails.
Ibis PJCC Dining Options
Ibis Kitchen
The hotel’s restaurant, Ibis Kitchen, is spacious and easily accessible for wheelchairs, which is a significant advantage.
Dining here was a treat, with a delicious buffet breakfast and an affordable à la carte menu.
Facilities and Services
During my stay, I enjoyed various facilities and services, including:
- Swimming pool
- Gym
- Kids playroom
Accessibility Features
I was particularly impressed by the hotel’s commitment to accessibility.
The Disabled-Access Rooms and wheelchair-friendly common areas make it a great choice for guests with limited mobility.
If you are a solo female traveler, there is a special lady parking spot at the front of the hotel for security.
There are gentle slopes and ramps leading to the front door, which is wheelchair friendly.
Staff and Service Quality
The staff at Ibis PJCC were outstanding.
Many thanks to the F&B Manager, Mr. Pravin Raj, who ensures the top-notch food, and the General Manager, Mr. Suresh Nair, who was very friendly and welcoming.
Food & Beverage Experience
Food & Drinks
The food and drinks were fantastic.
The buffet breakfast was especially delicious.
The best part was the salad, which was washed clean and dry, and the freshly cut fruit, including crunchy apples, sweet honeydew, and refreshing watermelon.
Though modest in size, the buffet breakfast packs a powerful flavor punch.
I savored the delightful Char Koay Teow Basah (Malay Style) and the delicious Chinese Ee Mee during my two breakfast mornings.
The scrambled eggs were a highlight of the meal.
They boasted a rich, eggy taste that satisfied my palate.
I love these; they are soft and creamy, with golden curds that delicately tumble onto the plate and quiver perfectly.
The hash browns were a standout, made from premium US-imported quality potatoes.
After tasting these, you’ll find ordering the ones served at fast food chains hard.
For dinner, I decided to explore their à la carte menu. It did not disappoint, offering generous portions at affordable prices.
We shared Fried Chicken Pop, Signature ‘Ke Mari Nasi Goreng,’ and Spaghetti Aglio e Olio.
The fried chicken nuggets were a delightful start.
Crispy on the outside and moist on the inside, this dish is perfectly complemented by generous servings of mayo and chili dipping sauce.
The Signature ‘Ke Mari Nasi Goreng’ was the star of the show.
It was bursting with the iconic ‘wok hey’ flavor and served alongside the delectable homemade Sambal Belacan.
However, as someone not particularly fond of spicy food, I find the Alio Olio Pasta too fiery for my taste buds.
Overall, the à la carte meal was a satisfying experience with its diverse and affordable choices.
For drinks, we opted for something cold, sweet, and refreshing, and the cranberry and grape cooler certainly hit the spot!
Convenient Parking Options for Every Guest
The hotel provides OKU (disabled) car parks with easy ramps and marked pathways, ensuring accessibility for all guests.
Additionally, basement-covered and outdoor car parks are available, catering to those who may not prefer to navigate the driveway ramp.
Whether guests prefer the convenience of covered parking or the ease of outdoor spaces, the hotel’s parking options offer added convenience during their stay.
Overall Experience
Overall, I had a fantastic stay at Ibis PJCC. This hotel offers great value and a quiet, restful experience.
I recommend it if you want to visit the nearby Sunway Pyramid and sleep well at night away from the maddening crowds.
