My Ipoh trip’s first pit stop is Six and A Half Cafe at Pusat Perdagangan Canning.
Eating makes me happy, and my friends in Ipoh know it.
Spending time with Steph and John is always fun.
The lovely couple also loves eating good food.
On my recent (though long-delayed) trip, Steph and John took me to explore different cafes.
It feels so nice to walk into a cafe where the owners know your name!
Steph is the most adventurous with new places—cafe hopping could be her middle name.
Six and A Half Cafe
Six and A Half Cafe, established in 2015, holds a special place in the hearts of Ipohites.
The only downside?
The popularity of the place often translates to long queues over the weekend.
Our visit happened on a Tuesday.
And without the weekend crowd, we managed to snag a nice table.
Six and A Half Café, is on the first floor shop lot in Pusat Perdagangan Canning.
Noteworthy neighboring restaurants include Having’s, Tare Omakase, and Shin’ya Bar.
I vaguely recalled visiting Having’s a few years back with Steph.
Six and A Half Café, a gem within this culinary landscape.
It caters from breakfast to dinner and boasts tempting small bites such as desserts and cakes.
For those drawn to a homey atmosphere, it’s a true sanctuary.
More than a mere eatery, this café is a perfect spot to hang out.
You can eavesdrop on conversations in Cantonese.
Doors open early at 8:30 am.
Early birds can kickstart their day with a delightful breakfast.
On weekdays, the café bids farewell at 6:30 pm.
But the festivities extend into the weekend, with doors swinging open until 11:00 pm.
The only hiccup we encountered was the lengthy staircase.
John and I gamely climbed.
As we ascended, the enticing aroma of coffee filled the air.
My hunger intensified.
Despite Paul’s past assurance that I wouldn’t get hungry upon waking up – coffee worked its magic, snapping me back to consciousness.
Having taken the ETS from Butterworth, I woke up at 5:00 am to catch the train.
Six and A Half Cafe promises a memorable and delicious escape.
The café’s layout is simple.
There’s a counter for drinks, a chiller for cakes.
The remaining space is dedicated to seating.
A Christmas tree adds a festive touch next to the raised platform by the window.
We timed our arrival perfectly for brunch.
As the breakfast menu is available until 11:30 am.
John and Steph selected their favorites.
While I opted for the Shakshuka.
Shakshuka Egg RM21.80
The Shakshuka is served with baked beans as its base.
‘Good,’ said John, ‘lots of protein.’
Our breakfast came with free-flow coffee.
They were generous when we asked for a splash of milk.
I discovered that Six and A Half Café roasts its coffee beans.
Their coffee is nice and smooth without being too acidic.
John and I gulped down two refills each.
Talk about taking advantage of the cafe’s hospitality!
The owners were friendly and kind and didn’t mind our laughter and jokes.
In conclusion, our brunch experience here was thoroughly satisfying.
The homey cafe stands out as one of the top spots for quality food and beverages in Ipoh.
It has a cozy ambiance, a wide selection of excellent coffee, and reasonably priced fresh food.
The aroma of coffee wafting could truly uplift one’s mood and senses.
I shall definitely be back on my next visit as this is one cafe in Ipoh worth visiting.
It’s worth noting that the cafe is closed every Thursday.
