Halal Dim Sum, anyone?
Dim sum is a traditional Chinese brunch similar to how the Spanish share tapas.
The meal comprises small plates of steamed dumplings, bao, and other fried snack dishes.
The choice drink is hot Chinese tea to wash away the oily, greasy feeling.
Usually, the Chinese eat this for early breakfast or from late morning to lunchtime.
Typically served in small bamboo baskets or steamers, the irresistible bite-sized delicacies are delicious!
While there aren’t many eateries other than hotels around Penang that serve halal dim sum, we’ve compiled a list of 5 restaurants.
It is not easy to find Halal Dim Sum in Penang.
These are Muslim-friendly and pork-free Dim Sum that everyone can enjoy.
Some restaurants offer all-you-can-eat Dim Sum Buffets for those who can’t get enough of Siew Mai and Har Gao!
Disclaimer: Some of the restaurants listed in this article are not Halal-certified, but they are all no pork, no lard eateries that use only halal ingredients in their dishes.
For Muslim readers, you may check Halal Malaysia Directory to verify the halal status of the eateries.
My favorite Pork Free Dim Sum in Kuala Lumpur, Dolly Dim Sum, deserves a special mention for its elegantly decorated space with high ceilings, beautiful setting, and friendly service!

Conclusion
While inventive Halal Dim Sum side dishes abound, each restaurant is famous for its all-day dim sum menus.
If you’re a big eater, affordable dim sum buffets may be the most attractive option.
But if you are like me and eat a few types of Dim Sum, you may prefer to choose one in a quieter venue where they steam your food to order.
Head over for breakfast, brunch, or lunch and enjoy your Dim Sum.
