I gave Paul the directions for Samba Brazilian Steakhouse at Avenue K with a cheery, “Let’s MEAT Up!”
Samba Brazilian Steakhouse with skewers of grilled meats is heaven if you are a hungry beefeater.
I knew that Paul would be up for the 15 different types of meat (read beef) and a forty-item buffet.
Samba is a carnivore’s paradise and does not disappoint.
Rump Steak: It is so delicious and juicy that I drool when writing this.
I made reservations for my best foodie beast and me at the alfresco dining area.
We wanted the bonus city view and a quick dash for Paul’s ciggie break in the bar.
Like all good buffet eaters, we arrive on the dot at 6.00 PM, greeted by two Spanish bulls and a Rio Carnival showgirl mannequin in a green sequined leotard.

Samba Brazilian Grilled Meats
A Brazilian-style BBQ is different from any other barbecue experience.
Churrasco is the national barbecue of Brazil, where spit-roasting has been raised to the level of art.
With Churrasco, the Brazilian mix grill with meats cooked on a rotisserie instead of a grille with markers.
It’s not cuts of meat, but Beef Hump roasted whole roasted in Churrasco.
When cooked this way, the meat is rich, fatty, and has a juicy, tender texture.
Usually seasoned with rock salt and then grilled low and slow, medium-rare is the best way to eat it.
Samba Brazilian Restaurant offers a steak buffet with meat seared wonderfully on the outside and warm, firmer, and delicious on the inside.
Settle in for a Feast at Samba
The Churrascaria concept, or churrasco-style, is “barbeque” in Portuguese.
Various meats are cooked on long skewers on a charcoal fire rotisserie.
The Passadores is the defining feature of a Brazilian Churrascaria.
The waiters bring these hot meat skewers to the table and serve you.
It is an interactive, fun, and delicious way to dine.
The number of skewered goodies will vary depending on whether you visit Samba for lunch or dinner, weekdays or weekends.
But regardless of when you dine, you’ll always be spoiled for choice.
Brazilian Cooking Style
The Brazilian BBQ style is called Churrascaria.
Its history dates back to the early 1800s, when European immigrants settled in the Rio Grande do Sul area of Brazil.
Their Brazilian settlers, known as Gauchos, would cook large portions of prime meats that were skewed and skillfully roasted to perfection over the pits.
This tradition is prepared and served at each table, and Samba Brazilian Steak House adopted this concept, too.
The best part of this grille is all the food is halal, and the chef and staff members are Muslim.
Paul grinned and looked at me.
Dory: She has had that same outfit on since 2019.
Paul: How do you know Dory?
Dory: I first ate there in 2019 and wanted to bring you here to meet all that beef!
We walked in. There were little Brazilian vibes, faint BBQ smells, and tired, overworked wait staff.
There was no samba in the air yet.
But the restaurant space was comfortable and pleasant, and the charming ambiance was full of anticipation.
The staff was putting the finishing touches on the buffet line.
We were quickly ushered to our table and introduced to the menu.
Of course, we pretended to read the single-page menu until the staff mentioned the magic words – 15 types of meat.
We, Penang-style chill, nodded in agreement, “Er, Why not?”
We were presented with the drinks menu, but since we don’t take sugar for obvious reasons, we opted for water.
Don’t want to overeat at dinner and go straight into a food coma? Have lunch instead.
You decide how many types of meat you eat between 12 and 15, not much difference.
Pro Tip: Remember to take what can be finished only as chargeable on wastage of food at RM 20 per 100 grams. (Refer to T&C on the menu)
Wine
Soft drinks are served a la carte on weekends, and Samba also offers a selection of wines by the glass or the bottle and the glass.
But we came to eat, and Paul had a long drive home afterward.
Instead, Paul drank in the view of the night sky, which overlooked the Four Seasons Hotel, Twin Towers, and other skyscraper buildings.
Dory made eye contact with the waiters, who moved from table to table, serving the grilled meat on giant skewers.
Failed.
The buffet at Samba Brazilian Steakhouse starts from 6.00 PM onwards.
Buffet Line-Up
Seafood, salad, pasta, mains, desserts, and much other food.
We decided to eat salads to prep our stomachs for what was in store next.
Salad Selection
If you’re a vegetarian, you won’t step in here anyway.
There are enough greens for beefeaters to bowl you over, from beetroot to coleslaw to rocket leaves.
Seafood Selection
There’s seafood on ice, including crabs, salmon, sashimi, oysters, mushrooms, and boiled prawns.
Hot Food
Hot food includes Buttered Vegetables, Pasta, and plenty of stews.
Side Dishes
In addition to the soup, there are French fries by the basket, bread, and many other carb-filled pleasures, such as Sushi Rolls, Pasta, and Fried Rice.
All this we declined except Mashed Potatoes.
We’ve been training for this – How to Eat a Buffet Without Getting Fat!
Desserts, Fruits & Cheese
We managed to pop a Cheese Cube or two.
Paul ate some cut fruit.
And we shared every chocolate dessert I could carry off the buffet line.
Types of Meat
Most of the steak is marinated with salt to keep the natural taste alive.
The signature is a pepper beef marinade.
The best way to eat all that meat is to have it plain – no additional sauces needed.
Paul and I spied some other guests slathering the meats in mustard, ketchup, and other condiments, and we went “WHY” in unison.
Choice of 12 Types of Meat
- Rump Steak
- Pepper Beef
- Beef with Parmesan Cheese

All the makings of a protein-powerhouse meal: Chicken Hearts, Calamari, Dory Fish, and Chicken Wings
Choice of 15 Types of Meat
- Rump Steak
- Pepper Beef
- Beef with Parmesan Cheese
- Sirloin Steak
- Garlic Beef
- Lamb Leg
- Chicken Sausage
- Dory Fish
- Shrimp with Beef Bacon
- Calamari
- Chicken Honey Cha Siew
- Chicken Wing
- Chicken Heart
- Smoked Duck
- Meat of the Day
Paul and I have our favorites from the list.
There are some exclusions because the items did not reach our table.
- Shrimp With Beef Bacon (finished before it reached our table)
- Lamb Leg (never got to our table)
Items we declined for personal and rather obvious 😀 reasons
- Dory Fish
- Chicken Heart
Dory Fish
We love Dory for undeniable reasons.
Paul and I decided to go the whole 9 yards with beef and more beef.
Sneaking in a Sausage, Calamari, or Chicken was acceptable.
Again, we have different preferences.
Paul prefers the fattier cuts and the taste of beef minus too many other flavorings.
A range of sauces can be found on the buffet if you want to drown your meats with sauces.
His Top 10 list is in descending order is
- Rump steak
- Ribs
- Chicken Wing
- Smoked Duck
- Chicken Honey Cha Siew
- Sirloin Steak
- Garlic Beef
- Pepper Beef
- Beef with Parmesan Cheese
- Chicken sausage
Paul: Oddly enough, the chicken wing in its marinate stood out for me. The beef with parmesan cheese cut was a bit dry, and I wasn’t a big fan.
Dory’s Top 10 List
- Rump Steak (influenced by Paul)
- Smoked Duck
- Beef with Parmesan Cheese
- Sirloin Steak
- Pepper Beef
- Ribs
- Chicken Wing
- Chicken Honey Cha Siew
- Chicken Sausage
- Garlic Beef
Dory: Paul encouraged me to eat the beef fat, which is where all the flavoring is—that was a good decision.
I tend to like the leaner cuts of beef.
After I had it blue, I wasn’t particularly interested in eating steaks cooked in other ways.
But the Rump was the perfect, melty aromatic fat and tender morsels.
The Smoked Duck is the best non-beef item, perfect temperature, hot and salty (but not too salty)
I also liked the plump, juicy Chicken Sausage (no pork served).
The other is the shrimp wrapped in beef pepperoni, which we didn’t get to taste.
Rump Steak – The C Cut
There’s magic in the C Cut.
RUMP steak tastes delicious because it has a high-fat ratio to its meat at roughly 20:80.
A rump steak (a London broil) is equivalent to an American sirloin.
If you look at the other tables, you will notice that the diners light up whenever the best seller and an old favorite arrive.
The steak was grilled to medium-rare perfection.
The taste?
You got to eat it to believe the magic of a beautiful steak.
We’re still drooling at the memories of the servers slicing huge slabs of Beef, Lamb, and Seafood, pulling off the chicken skewer, and piling them on our plates the Brazilian way.
Roasted Smoked Duck
A firm favorite from our time in the restaurant.
A must-try! WTF (Where’s the Fish?)
Dory was telling the strangers from the next table to take more!
Incorrigible at best, this Fish.
You won’t regret it.
The Signature Beef Ribs
Samba’s signature Beef Ribs straight from the grill are juicier and tenderer than any you’ve ever had. Try them today!
Beef Sirloin/ Parmesan Crusted Beef
We liked the looks of the Parmesan Crusted Beef.
When I was younger, I always ate juicy meats with crispy crusts. So I googled the ingredients – softened butter, panko, mayonnaise, and panko.
Translated – extra crisp, crunchy, and tasty.
Beautifully seared on the outside, this beef steak has a tasty parmesan cheese crust that elevates the steak-eating experience.
Paul’s not a fan.
Since we get two cuts each for almost every item, I have three cuts of Parmesan-crusted Beef to devour!
It’s okay, and we have a great system going.
Paul eats 3 of the items I’m not too fond of too.
Brazilian Grilled Pineapple
The Brazilian Grilled pineapple skewers are not on the menu.
However, you will want to save space for these treats, which are beyond delicious.
These grilled pineapple slices are a popular crowd favorite at Samba Brazil Steakhouse on Avenue K.
I’m unsure what the exact recipe entails, but Paul picked out hints of ground cinnamon and brown sugar.
The pineapple is a perfect, sweet crisp as the grill caramelizes the pineapple’s sugars.
You bite into the sweetness complemented by the fruit’s tartness.
The unique flavor and taste are fresh and go well with cleansing your palate after all that steak!
Brazilian Grilled Pineapple is a different kettle of fish 😀
So so good.
Paul kept taking photos of the Brazilian Grilled Pineapple to entice Khat, who was going via LRT.
We are nasty people, Khat!
I promise we’ll go again when I visit, and you shall eat Grilled Pineapple.
Lamb Leg
Some things aren’t meant to be.
I tried making eyes, calling out, and waving to the Passadores—everything short of running after the Lamb Leg when it came out.
We heard the succulent grilled Lamb promises to deliver tender, juicy first bites.
The sort where lamb lovers can gnaw on an entire leg if they want to.
We shall have to take that as the Lamb that got away!

Samba Brazilian Steakhouse Review
Verdict: We waited for Khat to arrive and ended dinner with more Brazilian-grilled pineapple slices to cleanse our palates.
We strolled down to meet Khat near Dolly Dim Sum at 9.30 PM.
Then it hit us.
We’ve been eating nonstop at Samba Brazilian Steakhouse for 3.5 hours.
For sure, we devoured 1000 calories each and walked out into the night feeling five KG heavier – to head to Kg. Baru for a Nasi Lemak Supper!

I lived 5 years in Brazil and this place brings me nice memories
You must absolutely tried the pão de queijo. You have to order them, though, because they aren’t on display at the buffet.
Thank you, Valerie, for the suggestion and your excellent recommendations, as always.
