We had a great time on Sunday at the Grand Opening of Sutera Restaurant.

Few restaurants’ grand opening get you started on the right foot.
Sutera Restaurant’s starter ‘Sutera Seafood Platter’ wowed everyone with tasty food with a dusting of colorful blooms.
Imagine the choice of Chilli Crab, Scallop, Mussel Salsa, Seafood Roll, Mango Prawn Salad, and Otak Otak Pau.
Even listing the items was a mouthful.
The taste of the food is divine.
If I have to choose sides, Scallop’s top of my seafood list.
I especially loved the fresh, plump Scallop in a creamy sauce.
The fat Mussel with Salsa is nice and meaty.
Chilli Crab is not too spicy but has a creamy sweet taste.
The seafood roll has chunks of salted egg yolk.
Mango Prawn Salad was served on a slice of cucumber.
And the Pau, steamy, hot, soft, and spongy with a nice Otak Otak filling and a generous dusting of shrimp roe or eggs, look like orange-colored jelly balls.
Just delicious to bite with a great mouthfeel.
With the presentation of, the dry ice effect, I have to give the restaurant a 10/10.

Sutera Wonderland Basket (RM88.80)
The mains were served in a Dim Sum Bamboo Steamer Basket.
We expected steamed items inside but instead found favorite oriental items like Char Siew Chicken, Stuffed Grilled Squid, Prawn Sambal Petai, Jui Hu Char, Crab Siew Mai, and Sesame Rice.
The food was served over a bed of Alfalfa sprouts, thin green shoots with tiny clover leaves.
I loved their crunchy texture and grassy taste.
There are edible bright blue Butterfly Pea flowers rich in antioxidants.
In Thailand, it’s used as an herbal tea.
Many of the flowers used are both decorative and edible.
Char Siew Chicken is juicy and succulent.
I fancy having this with my Wan Tham Mee on the next trip to Sutera Restaurant.
Prawn Sambal Petai is red and spicy and kicks up a notch on the heat level.
Stuffed Grilled Squid is tasty, as I usually don’t eat squids unless I’m in Langkawi.
The chefs made the squid delicious, tasted good, and not chewy.
For the Jui Hu Char, I’m more inclined to a quintessential festival dish that we make at home.
I prefer finely julienned yam beans, carrots, cabbage, dried shitake mushroom, and dried cuttlefish eaten with rice or as a wrap.
The fragrant, nutty-tasting long grain Basmati is a real treat that goes nicely with the dishes.

The restaurant has a knack for making delicious pannacotta.
Maybe I’m just addicted to the tasty treat made with Longan.
It is so smooth, sweet, and full of longan flavors.
The Nyonya Kuih presented are nice are full of santan flavors.
I was reminding my dining companions that eating Nyonya Kuih is not cheap as a small piece costs RM1.
My mom and her octogenarian Nyonya friends must eat Kuih for breakfast.
