The Women’s Journey Thailand 2017 Campaign was launched with a gala welcome reception on 1 August, 2017, at Nai Lert Park Heritage Home in Bangkok. The event was attended by over 50 international women celebrities including Miss Universe Thailand 2017, Maria Poonlertlarp and presided over by Minister of Tourism and Sports H.E. Mrs. Kobkarn Wattanavrangkul joined by Governor of the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT), Mr. Yuthasak Supasorn.
The month-long campaign is designed to attract international and local female travellers to visit Thailand. It enhances the kingdom’s positive image as one of Asia’s most female friendly destinations.
The global female celebrities, bloggers and appointed representatives of “The Lady Celebrities to Thailand” and “The Lady Bloggers to Thailand” projects present for the launch include Miss Universe 2015, Pia Alonzo Wurtzbach, South Korean actress Kim So-hyun, Indian actress Tanya Sharma, Japanese female idol group Nogizaka46 (乃木坂46, Nogizaka Forty-six), Miss Universe China 2016 Li Zhen Ying, Indian YouTuber and vlogger, Anika Morjaria, Egyptian fashionista Hadia Ghaleb, Omani Influencer & Actress Naeema Al Maqbali, Miss Vientiane 2017 Vaniphone Phumexay, Miss Myanmar World 2017 Ei Kywat Khaing, Miss Vietnam 2016 Do My Linh, Miss World Australia 2017 Esma Voloder, First Class Magazine, Editor-in-chief Mary Ornborg, Swedish journalist, photographer, and writer Lottie Knutson.
TAT launched Amazing Luxperience media familiarisation trip , (1-5 August, 2017) for bloggers and influencers to uncover many hidden secrets of why women travellers love Thailand.
During the trip, bloggers indulged in Thai cooking classes, enjoyed shopping experiences and traditional Thai spa treatments. They experienced fine dining at some of the 50 Best Restaurants in Asia, toured working tea plantations and factories to learn the secret of ‘Kombucha’ tea.
Another highlight was a day trip to the Ocean Marina Yacht Club and a cruise through the breath-taking scenery in the Gulf of Thailand on a super yacht.
The action packed itinerary included decoupage workshops, a lecture on European architectural examples in Bangkok, exclusive private fashion shows by emerging top Thai fashion designers, and other cultural and educational opportunities.
“This first-hand experience will enable bloggers to provide their readers with Thailand visitor info and other top travel tips not often found on mainstream tourism media,” said TAT Governor, Yuthasak Supasorn in his speech.
TAT has also launched a special “Women’s Journey Thailand” mobile app. The app can be downloaded after registering for the access code. Registrants will get a “Welcoming Package” with “goodies” – free welcome drink by Coffee World, 7-days free Sim Card with WiFi by DTAC, and 300 Baht discount by Grab Taxi.
On top of that they will receive
– 20% discount at King Power Duty-free Shops (except the airport branch)
– Special airfare for the domestic sector, starting from 1,290 Baht by Bangkok Airways
– Special car rental fee by Thai Rent a Car (499 Baht/day)
– 500 Baht discount voucher by the Siam Discovery Department Store (for women visitors)
– Free ice-cream cone by McDonalds Thailand (only during August 2017)
Thailand has recorded a significant rise in female visitors over the past few years.
TAT Deputy Governor for International Marketing – Asia and South Pacific, Mrs. Srisuda Wanapinyosak, said that today’s women are significant decision makers and influential with high-spending power.
“With a full range of products and services that can serve women’s needs, Thailand can definitely be the ideal destination. The Women’s Journey Thailand campaign will showcase how women travellers can enjoy these products and services at very attractive prices when they visit Thailand in August,” she added.
As part of the campaign, TAT is launching other activities; the Lady Golf Challenge, Lady Celebrities to Thailand, Thailand through Her Eyes, Lady in Thai Fabrics, and Lady Bloggers.
TAT has appointed the winner of The FACE Thailand Season 3, Natthaya “Grace” Boonchompaisarn
as an honorary representative to inspire female travellers globally to explore Thailand.
Under the Women’s Journey Thailand 2017 theme, seven categories of products and services are extended to attract women travelers. Accommodation (hotels and resorts); health, beauty and spa services; shopping malls, dining and restaurants; recreation and entertainment; (theme parks); lifestyle activities (handicraft workshops and fitness), and transportation services; (airlines and car rentals).
