I found the pleasures of eating and sleeping well at Bangkok luxury hotel, the Como Metropolitan Bangkok. Rated first-class, the cool contemporary hotel is stylishly sleek and minimalist with a Zen like ambience. Its location is in the city’s upmarket hotel lined embassy row of Sathorn Road.
This oasis of wellness and calm is the ideal urban escape, located perfectly in Bangkok’s busy central business district. Como Metropolitan Bangkok is easily accessible and reachable by Skytrain or MRT train networks.
The hotel’s service is impeccable and at its best. The staffs are smiley, helpful and genuinely charming. Its top-notch service has set the bar high for others to imitate.
WELLNESS + SPA
COMO Shambhala Urban Escape gets my top vote. Flying in and hitting the spa for a deep tissue massage to iron out all those knots pronto is a delicious treat!
Check in a spa on arrival is the best way to iron out the fatigue from travelling. The COMO Shambhala Urban Escape has a highly personalised approach to fitness and well being for guests.
The spa is an ideal sanctuary that I enjoyed spending some much needed alone time. The soothing, signature ‘Invigorate‘scent is calming. The sleek, minimalist interior is quiet and peaceful.
A soothing COMO Shambhala treatment starts with a deep tissue massage.
Needless to say, I immediately fall asleep as my therapist applies even pressure to release the tightness of my tired muscles. My therapist has healing hands and the yoga-like movements of the Thai massage is relaxing.
After the 75 minutes massage, I had a long soak in the heated hydro massage pool that perfectly complements my need to gently rest and rejuvenate. I feel relaxed just remembering the experience!
If you prefer a more active way to destress, there’s a well-equipped gym and a 25m outdoor lap pool.
Mouth-watering delicious food is easily available all over Bangkok and for all prices. I was keen to go somewhere exciting.
Nahm is trendy for Thai food and reservations are needed as it is a popular restaurant with the locals, business and the expat community. I didn’t have to go far to eat at the multiple winner of The World’s 50 Best Restaurants and Asia’s 50 Best Restaurants 1-50.
Nahm has her home in Como Metropolitan Bangkok.
The food in nahm is unbelievably delicious and spicy! Chef Prin Polsuk is head chef of nahm Bangkok. When Chef Prin was in nahm London, the restaurant received the first Michelin star for a Thai restaurant within six months!
Thai cuisine is an unmistakable blend of sweet, spicy, salty and sour that is totally addictive.
Thai cuisine is best eaten with new rice. Everything is eaten together to experience the layer of flavours mingled with the spicy, smoky, oily, creamy taste. The fresh herbs and aromatics provide a breath of freshness.
Dining at nahm is truly a remarkable dining experience. I was not disappointed!
nahm is open for lunch from noon to 2pm every weekday. Menu here.
Travelling alone I prefer to stay in a Queen Size room. The guest rooms at Como Metropolitan Bangkok are huge, clean-lined style, neat and luxurious. It has everything I needed including a digital scale (watch my eating yikes!), a coffee making machine, delicious tit bits and cold drinks in the mini bar and even a yoga mat!
The large bath ensuite has a big shower and a nice tub for soaking.
If you’re planning a trip with a big group of girlfriends and really want to splash out (party!) I’d recommend the luxurious duplex Penthouse Suite which is enormous with two bedrooms upstairs. Go up a flight of stairs from the a massive lounge with a dining area and a functional kitchenette. This is truly a home away from home!
Here are some photos which we took at the hotel. Enjoy the views!
Review: My first COMO experience in Bangkok confirms that the service is impeccable, personalized, consistent and charming. I feel rested, rejuvenated and beautiful. Come in and check it out for yourself.
